I live in a town with a population of about 6000 people, in most of Germany, they have started to fill the disused phone booths with shelves and books people no longer want, so I haven’t been in a library for ages. I am lucky there are always good books in there, in smaller villages, there usually are really old books in there no one really wants to read you are only supposed to take no more than 3 books, and it somehow works. There is a group of people who sort through the books and throw away the older ones and also stuff people put in there which isn’t ok, sometimes people put clothing or dvds in there..of course, whenever I have finished the books, I retunr them, and I also have donated a lot of books there. I lobe books and can’t throw them away, but have no problems donating them

This is how our weather ended today. Tomorrow and Friday will be equally warm with glorious blue skies.

What book was covered in the group? Do you buy the books or check them out?

I live in a very small town. We have a little library in an old house. They bought a shed and installed many rows of shelves in there and call it the Book Barn. You can buy a plastic shopping bag full of books for $5. I can usually stuff about 30 books in the bag. That lasts me a while!
When I'm finished with a reasonable size stack of them I just donate them right back to the library to sell again. Yes, I have repurchased books that I've already read!

I had to slow down buying books, my DW said I had enough my collection is around 800 dating back to 1822. As you know we have a flea market booth. An elderly couple got sick right after the COVID. He was 96 and got very week. They gad a large booth and they auctioned it off, I thought I would make a very low offer. This was 2 years ago I still have over 3,000 paper backs in my storage shed.

I did a massive cleaning of the house yesterday including steam mopping all the floors. Bella had three bloody diarrhea messes on them that I cleaned at 2:30 in the morning. Couldn't fall back to sleep so came out to the couch with my book. Finally got sleepy again around 4:30. I hate it when my sleep gets all messed up like this.
It's finally late enough that I can call my vet to ask for some metronidazole for Bella. She wants to eat so bad but I can't feed her yet.

Hubby will NOT get rid of any of his books. We built a bookshelf that took up an entire wall to house the stacks of books on the floor. There was a bit of space left. Now we're back to having stacks -- 10? -- three feet high again.

I've been taking some of my once-read books to Goodwill when I go into town. The Goodwill store is close to the grocery store, so I can take an armful fairly often. But it hasn't really made a dent.

I used to keep my books too but it is just so impractical. When DH and I started flipping houses, I donated all of them. I love reading but I don't need to keep every book I read. It's not like I'm going to go back and read them again. If I do, I'll just pick up another copy at the library and read it!

DH was also a bit of a hoarder when it came to so many things. I got rid of most of it once the Alzheimer's really took hold. I gave anything of sentimental value to his kids, sold anything of monetary value and put the money in his account, donated what I could and methodically tossed the rest.

I still have a long way to go on my stuff. Mostly building supplies I've kept until I finish the house. I'm done with all the plumbing so I'm going to make a huge contractor bag full of plumbing fittings and advertise it for free but whomever takes has to take the whole bag. No fishing out just what they want.

And here comes Christmas and my family is asking me what I want. Last year I asked for that jigsaw puzzle table and I LOVE it! It will come out in deep winter when I can't do as much with my projects. This year: "Gift cards. I'll give you a selection of places to choose from. I don't want things. I want experiences or necessities."

The Save The Date cards FH and I picked out the other night. FH says those colors are very close to the ones we have in our color scheme already. Now just to get him to agree with matching invites and RSVP cards.
