BYC Café

Good morning Cafè. Coffee is ready.
This is that inky dinky one I found 4 days ago. It's currently no larger in diameter than a pencil lead.

Good Afternoon All,

It is 12:30pm Wednesday morning over here, what a busy morning, all my hens are jointly screaming together on their egg laying task...so mighty noisy. My sick rooster in the kitchen is crowing his sick lung out, he stopped eating and just crow and also making other distress noises.

Adding to the already chaotic condition in my backyard, my neighbour's hens are also doing it so I am exhausted.....so tiresome.

I don't remember when all these noise before egg laying going to stop, but I wish it stops sooner than later.

That tiny sick rooster is going to die sooner or later as he is not resting his lung and not eating.

More screaming..I must go to attend to it. I am thinking buying eggs is more peaceful.

Have a great day all

Here is my Japanese bantam hen's first egg 30g and she weighed just over 600g. She had a mini prolapse & stain blood on her egg. I feel better knowing that she will only lay around 10 eggs and then goes broody and take roughly about 2/3 months to return to laying again. That is what happened to my other Japanese bantam.

One of the caterpillars died during the cocooning process . I read it might have been an anal prolapse. They can be caused by milkweed that had been treated with pesticides. I've never seen anyone spray that field. Not ever in the nearly 30 years I've been going there. It must be something else.

Good Morning,

Having tea mixed with a bit of coffee, just to get me ready for another hen screaming day.😄

Yesterday weather was just like spring, temperature is 25C=77F. Warm sunshine and the light wind is also warm. I can almost smell summer. My raspberries tree in a pot is fruiting so abundantly.

Tiny sick rooster calmed down last night and start eating like crazy. The rattling chest breathing had gone, just another 7 more days of medication. He was so distress hearing the hens screaming, he wanted to go out to do his rooster things -helping them nesting, laying eggs.e.tc...,but he is confined in a dog carry box.

Then my Isa Brown Big Mouth, the oldest in my flock was fighting with my Silver Laced Wyandottee - Goldie. I came between them and swing about with my arms like a rooster does to break up their fight.

Big trouble in my little backyard and my poor tiny sick rooster can not help. The only thing that say he is a rooster is his comb and wattle, other than that he has no rooster feather because he is a frizzle so he is looking more like a mop.

It is time for me to start on my morning chicken task now - 6:27am Thursday morning.

Have a wonderful day all.
