welcome to the swap leepsy and jenjscott glad to have you aboard.

Mangled sorry to hear about you troubles we will be praying everything works out ok for you and your family and hope that you might be able to join us at a later time.

Ok I was thinking on the color themes the cozy Cabin would be like dark greens, tans, browns, and maroons.
autum leaves would be fall colors.

But it sounds like everyone is going for the scrap yarn bonaza and so I guess that is what we will do.

So the theme is scrap yarn bonaza, 6 inch squares, and make the same numbers of squares as people signed up unless the list get really long then we will do the 20 thing. you can do any patterns that you want and as many patterns as you like. Before you send them in I would like for each of you to mark each of your squares with a peice of paper with your username on it and pen or tie it to the square. that way we will know who made which squares. When you send them in use a small flat rate box or any small box you can find to fit them in and make sure you send the same amount of return postage in an self addressed envelope. I hope this answers everyones questions if not just let me know and I will get back to you as soon as i can.

Maw.

Sign me up! I have been trying different squares, but have not decided which one I like best yet. I would also go with the scrap bag - still have lots of yarn in the basement.

Happy Belated Birthday Darlene!

I tried to post last night but the internet was not cooperating.

Saturday I went to the Great Lakes Fiber Fest. Saw every kind of yarn possible. Yarn from Buffalo, Ouivit, Casmere, Silk, Bamboo, Alpaca and every sheep imaginable. I was good - I didn't buy any yarn, but did buy 2 wooden crochet hooks - really neat. I also didn't buy any raw fiber - last year I bought a Cormo fleece, which is still in the basement waiting for me to wash, card and spin. I also have about 20? bags of alpaca in the basement waiting for me to process. Hopefully I can get some of it done soon as we are shearing our alpacas on June 9 and I will have 8 more bags of fleece!!! I also bought a button that says "I am a Hooker."

In the meantime, I have been hooking on the way to work.

Bonnie!!! Thanks for the birthday wishes, been missing you girl! How can a crochet nut go to a fiber/yarn fest and not buy yarn??! You have more will power than me!! I have a nice collection of those wooden hooks, several with beutiful colors of wood, my kids gave me some for Christmas year before last. I love HAVING them but I really prefer to use the aluminum ones becasue they fit better in between my fingers. They collectibles though and I think they are pretty as they can be. Mine are in a jar in the bedroom. I'll dump them out on the table and take a pic when I get the camera out again. I wish you would take some pics of the spinnning process, I bet that is very interesting!!! I'd just like to see what the wool or whatever it's called looks like through the stages! Very interesting sounding!!!

I love the I'm a Hooker button too!!! cool!!..

Sounds good Maw!! It sure will help her out alot ya'll to mark the squares!!!!

I'm going to try to post a picture, may or may not work. This is an afgan made up of 63 different patterns. Got the book at Wal-Mart. This is what I did when I first got back into crochet after not doing any for about 20 years. They start off simple and get more complicated as you go. Jen

Now I just have to learn a new pattern.

Alpacachick~ the Great Lakes Fiber Fest sounds so interesting. And yes, I second that you should show us the spinning process. That sounds so cool!

I've never seen any wooden crochet needles, but I have some old wooden spinning spools.

Rafter~ It looks like it is almost there. Great first try! Keep practicing. I printed off the step by step directions w/ pictures off the crochetcabana site to learn how to do the square. It really helped me a lot.

Jenjscott~ Cool patterns. I love your afghan! I wish I could just pick up a book and decyfer the patterns and make an afghan. How long did it take to complete it?

Alpacachick glad to have you on board, sorry if my spelling is really bad in this post but I am trying to type with a 2 yr old in my lap.

I did a flower tonight and I see that one in your picture,,,,nice colors too

Thanks Scrambled Egg
I was getting an extra dc in the corners, and I didn't get my chains right either.
barnie.gif

I was using a pattern that after making the ring, chain 3, yo, 2 dc in the ring, chain 3
This really was all greek to me for a couple of days. I could do the stitches with practice yarn, but it is different when you try to make something of them.

I have another one made, and it looks pretty good to me. I'm waiting for the pic to load so y'all can tell me what you think.

Jen, that is pretty!!! I'm gonna have to do a lot more practicing to be able to make squares that y'all will use.

I used the crochetcabana granny square to teach myself,,,,,,yeah I know what you mean about the instructions,,,I would read them and just say huh? and read them over and over again until I would finally get it,,,,or just dive in and then rip it back out when I did it wrong

Yes,
I had a quite a few "huh?" moments too.
I think I am getting it now. This is the second granny square attempt and it is much better. (At least I think so)

I still have a couple of more rounds to go, and I didn't try to shape it, I just layed it down and took a picture. It is about 4 inches right now.
I still need to work on my center, it is goofy.

Jean
