Well, hope everyone is getting back into the swing of school routines and whatnot...me, I am slowly getting there...I think once I get my chickens (we have had quite the run around trying to find a chicken source...) I will be better at managing my time. Sorry, I am slow on those Scotland pics too...*sigh* there are just so many (my DH was a photo maniac) and they are all on DH's computer...(just try to get him off his computer...
wink.png
) I will work on them while he is at work sometime...

Take care everyone and Happy new upcoming week!

Your welcome Smitty, Really those aren't has hard as they look, just as long as you keep count and have your chart handy they really work out well.

Maybe I'll print it out and give it another look. I was just a bit intimidated with it. Worth a try, right.

Thanks for hosting the spring swap. I know I'm a slacker hooker, but I'm having a blast. It's forcing me to use the hooking skill. My grandma would be so proud of me hookin.

Mawchick, I found more yarn to put in my stash container. I can't believe that it was stashed all over the house. I thought I'd tracked it all down last month. Well, now the lid will barely fit. I think I need a bigger yarn stash container.

OK, I'm going to let the big girls out for some free ranging time. Gotta go catch Napolean and put him in the run so he won't love on anyone. Poor girls look like they will never grow their feathers back.

*sigh* well, I hope people won't mind some off sized squares from me...I truly might be better off joining the spring swap...my first relatively successful square is ummm....HUGE!

I can't seem to keep the squares to six inches...So, anyway, just warning you, you might have some squares that you will have to save for the Spring one...And I am using G hook too...I guess I just have too many stitches...

Howdy ladies sorry for not posting this weekend, I took a quick trip to moms for a break from the house and cleaning and such, wanted to see what new stores have been built and opened since the lst trip to town. Well here I go I hope I can answer most of everyones questions.

for the swaps Scrambled Egg the Original Crochet Swap Creator hosts the Spring Swap, and Mawchickkidie The BYC Crochet Club thread creator (me) hosts the fall swap. But all the credit for the swaps being possible needs to go to scrambled as she was the one who came up with the Crochet swaps We Love You Scrambled!

For those who would like to go ahead and start making your squares or what not shapes for the spring swap SE has given the go ahead, and I will post what she said the themes and such are on the first page, and All the rest of the info on it in due time.

Scramble I will pm you with some ??? about the spring swap and such.

Go Girl give it a shot.. Who knows it maybe be your best yet.

Hey all, I haven't been on here in a few days, had quit a few pages to go through. For the newer hookers, a pattern that I use for squares might be pretty easy to try, really easy on the counting as I work on my squares while waiting at dr.'s offices so this pattern is pretty easy to stop and start.
I chain 4, slip stitch into beginning of chain, Round one : chain 2( might need 3, my dc stitches are a bit tight so 2 works best for me) , double crochet 3 into circle, 2 chain stitch ( makes corners), double crochet 4, 2 chain stitch, double crochet 4, 2 chain stitch, double crochet 4, 2 chain stitch, then slip stitch into first chain 2. - you should now have a circle in the middle with 4 groups of 4 double crochets, and 4 groups of 2 chain stitch
Round 2 : chain 2, turn, 3 double crochets in 2 chain stitch space (corners from first round), 2 chain stitch, 4 double crochets in same 2 chain stitch space, 4 double crochets in next 2 chain stitch space, 2 chain stitch, 4 double crochets in same 2 chain stitch space, 4 double crochets in next 2 chain stitch space, 2 chain stitch, 4 double crochets in same 2 chain stitch space, 4 double crochets in next 2 chain stitch space, 2 chain stitch, 4 double crochets in same 2 chain stitch space, slip stitch into first chain two - round two should have 4 double crochets, 2 chain stitch, 4 double crochets in the corners from the first round.
Round 3 : Chain 2, turn, work the same as round 2 and add 4 double crochets in the middle space between corners, so it would go from ch 2 turn, 3 dc, ch 2, 4 dc, 4 dc, 4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc, 4 dc, 4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc, 4 dc, 4 dc, ch 2, 4 dc, 4 dc, slip stitch in ch 2.

I was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and the dr's have been telling me I need to exercise more, mad hooking wasn't good enough for them, so 9/1 bought a 22" self propelled lawn mower. It took me until today to get all the yard mowed. Monday did a little hanging on to the mower after we took it out of the box,
Tuesday morning mowed for 2 hours - 20 min mowing - 30 min resting - 20 min mowing - 30 min resting - 10 min mowing, ran out of gas, took 10 min more to decide I had enough for the day. Busy Wednesday morning. Thursday swapped the mowing resting schedule from Tues. Friday, got to mow for almost 2 hours, made it up to 45 min before break, just refilled lawn mower when a rain band from Hanna passed over - at least I was rinsed off before I came in the house
gig.gif
Woke up late Sat morning, and it was burning hot out, so no mowing. This morning I was bound and determined to finish, took all day, but I did it

1 acre, 1 week. The grass has been growing so fast lately that I have to start over tomorrow

I almost forgot. We had a loss friday, Tweety the blue budgie died, we had her for 9 years. Now I am worried about Sammy the Quaker, as that was his chosen cage mate for the last 6 years - he killed our other budgie, I think Tweety told him to as she didn't like her. Tweety loved hanging out with Sammy, she was the boss. She used to push Sammy off the cage, then look at him on the floor and start laughing.

hi..sorry to bother again..but i have another question before i start....
roll.png
..okay..i know we can choose whatever style, color square we want...but once i chose a design..do i then have to make all my squares the same design...so everyone gets the same square style from me?..thanks, Wendy

No Red, "Anything Goes!" Any patterns, any colors and any combo of triangles, squares and hexagons....should be very interesting!!! Personally, I am loving the look of the hexagons but some folks may want to stay with the squares and that is fine too. No Scoot, don't have my book yet but when I get it, I'm gonna learn that great looking triangle on the cover, lol!!! Alot of great looking stuff on the cover alone!!!! Probably sent media mail so hopefully by the end of the week I'll have it. I'm on my 3rd square of the LionBrand.com crochet-a-long so I have plenty to do, also trying to finish a dc afghan for my daughter's bed (here, not her new apartment), halfway done with that one. I try to get a square or hexagon done on an occasional lunch break when I don'thave to run a quick errand....a crocheters life is never dull, lol!!!

Yeah, it does seem to work out great with Maw and I switching off the swaps....hope she doesn't quit after she has to sit with the sorting hat and get all those squares where they actually belong, lol!!!!! That is a bigger job than you think!! It was sqare heaven in my den for hours and hours getting all those piles sorted..will be easier in the sandwich bags though. Hopefully mine will be there today or tomorrow, they went priority mail.

Keep working at it newbies, it'll "click" and you'll be hooked...if I can learn to knit, you can certainly learn crochet becasue the knitting is much harder to me!!! I bet I had to watch that cast on video 12 times just to get that part figured out!!! I am a bit dangerous with the two needles though, so I will be sticking with the crochet!!!

So Green, your doctors don't think crochet is exercise?!! Tell them you are in the crochet olympics and see if it qualifies then!! Hope you and all the other hookers under the weather feel better....anyone seen Purr????? Ya'll have a great day!!!
