The sun shines! This has been a hard week spiritually, mentally, and garden-wise. It's been nothing but cold and rainy but the sun is finally shining and the temps are rising above 50 F. We just got out order of seed for the upcoming year, all organic heirloom. My standard storebought seeds had a really crummy germination rate and so I'm replacing a lot of it in 2016.

I'm actually looking forward to this upcoming year. I'm getting more ambitious in my garden with more cultivars and meticulous planning. I'm doing a biointensive plan with space-saving being top priority. Companion planting is a must if I want to grow the amount of food I have planned.

I too am looking for a new seed supplier, for the same reason. Collecting seeds from the better crops.

Gray weather seems to get most people down. It has been connecting to many things like alcohol and drug abuse sucide stress fatigue and others. I look at rainy days as a blessing, i refuse to cuss it or let it get me down. Make the best of it weather i watch Lonesome Dove for 200th time work in the shed or clean the house. The cooler weather is easier on my lungs. So it is a blessing from these 100 degree days. I know my god has blessed me and has better plans for me. I make the best of everyday i am above ground.

We just planted ginger root, hope it does well here in Arizona.

I also like cooler and damper weather for the same reason. Don't do heat well. God is good, and His blessings abound. All we have to do is open our eyes to see His many blessings.

I had to enlarge your pic. Looked exactly like the packaging from Seeds Now. I'll be ordering from them again. Small sized packets, good pricing, good variety selection. My problem is that I continue to buy seeds b/c the old ones might not sprout. However, I had excellent germination this spring from tomato seed that was 9 years old! Finally dumped all of my flower seeds into a bowl, stirred them up, and broadcast them into a hay bale border at front of the garden. Horrible germination with those! No great loss, though!

I have learned to be careful of gray skies. 4 straight days is trouble for me. I totally focus on getting thru the fourth day. Otherwise I purposely go stand out in the sun most days. I cant explain the reason this works. . . I just know it does. WOrking inside all day in the winter months of 2015 was really hard. I barely saw the sun coming up when I am entering a totally walled building. ANd leaving as the sun was setting. Obviously I would rather be working from home where I can walk outside at any time the sun is shining.

I love gardens and flowers and RAIN. Rain in the forecast is met with cheer. I hate the negatives the weathermen use when rain is forecasted. Like they cant remember it is needed for food!!! ANd their viewers certainly dont care the rain brings food. Grrr.

We are getting more and more hotter days here. This week it is muggy, hot and afternoon thunderstorms. Cooler drier weather due tomorrow.

We can only do the best we can. I am feeding early in the morning and very late at night to help keep the stress down with the animals.

Oh the shoots look very healthy. Hope this grows well for you!! I tried gowing a root from the grocery and it just rotted. You are sure to have better luck with the root above!!

Just had to do a search, and came up with this. I may have to visit my local health food store to buy some organic ginger. Bet that's not been treated with the nasties.

LOL maybe that was my problem. For now, I resort to the grocery. Cheap enough for a small pc of root. IMO. Though I do hope to figure out how to grow it indoors-- maybe it needs a light though. Will read above link and find out!! Thanks for posting the link.
