I will be canning for the first time this year!! Soexcited! We have decided to get started plants instead of sseeds this year, we've had such a crazy winter that our garden is going to need a little extra TLC before we can do ANY planting. Fortunately, we have a great organic local nursery to buy from!

Thank you Potter Watch. Beautiful. I'm sure you'll get the hang of it, and that it will extend your gardening season by leaps and bounds. Does your ground freeze much where you are? If the soil stays thawed throughout the winter inside the green house, one of the first things I'd explore is the option of raising Black Soldier Fly Larvae in there for a good high protein chicken feed supplement. You could also have a few vermicomposting bins... again, if the soil doesn't freeze. OOOOH, the possibilities!!!!

I'm assuming that if I have it set at 80, the motor will only kick on and open the vents if the temperature goes above that. Anyone know if I am correct on that? Any other tips on using a greenhouse effectively? I have been bringing my trays in at night and only putting them out during the day because nighttime temps are still pretty low. How high should the outside temps be before I can leave the trays in there all the time? Thanks for any advice!

Your thermostat looks like mine and yes if you set it at 80 the intake vents should open and the venting fan should turn on. Do you have a fan for horizontal air flow? I found that to be crucial. Your greenhouse looks wonderful though, you must be so excited.

You hit a hot button there with the BSF raising. I have five or six bins made specifically for that purpose. Anyone want to buy them? Lol. We tried raising them last year to supplement our meat chickens and they were an abject failure. I don't know what exactly went wrong (my husband was in charge of that project), but I do know he tried and tried and tried to get it to work but it just didn't. Yuck!

Thanks for the help! I don't believe I have a fan but I'm not sure.

Anyone growing Pumpkins this year? I am doing a few of Dill's Atlantic Giants. I don't know how big I can get them though, its my first year doing pumpkins, though I have done Squash and Zucchini before.

Anyone want to guess the weight of what my biggest one is going to be?

Good luck with the pumpkins, Mr MKK Farms! Here in the South, I've lost out all cucurbit family crops the last few years. This year, :( , I am resorting to full chemical warfare. I feel like this is a major failure, but we need these to eat. I hear it's better up north, not so much bugs and diseases. Is this so?
