Add gypsum to the soil . It allows clay to crumble . You can find it in garden stores . It may be labeled soil soft or soften soil . Continue to add organic matter .
you might find a trucking co that hauls gypsum and ask them for a price for a large load some might do it free if they pass you it saves them haling time & fuel

Woke up this morning under siege by crows! About 20 of them are hopping about the skylights and banging about trying to open pecans. NOISY! It's like they're filming "The Birds" and forgot to tell us.

Well, I decided to listen to the crows.... The pecans are ready! So spent today doing a harvest. Will probably have crows again tomorrow, but they won't find as much.

And while I was at it and in the mood, I took the last of the Cortlands off the tree. Harvest season is done!

Thanks. I bought the place as a fixer-upper because I needed a project and, ergo, the yard had been abandoned/neglected for 1.5+ years. Last year was spent rehabilitating the yard and trees; this year the rewards came. (Still babying a couple of trees, but I'm betting next year is Nectarine City!)
