We also got a hazelnut and a chestnut tree already on the property. Monster-in-law owns the store and apartmnt we live in and the surrounding land (acre of property in all) so I've got Golden Bantam corn, cornichons, and all kinds of veggies going. I'm hoping to get some wild European strawberries going and some herbs going too.
That's awesome! I have some chinquapin chestnut saplings.

I was moving some mulch around in the garden (mulching my grapes) and found an Alabama Jumper.

Dan it is still raining but I stood on the front and back porch and zoomed in. These are not good pics from the zoom but it will give you an idea of the size.

small apple tree

good apple tree

small peach this also should have been a fruit cocktail and has not grown much in 4 1/2 yrs either.

plum that should have been a fruit cocktail it is abt. 10' but is not developing much it is 4 1/2 yrs. old.
I fertilize them all three times a year.

*would anyone possibly feel like offering some cuttings to graft onto either the peach or plum trees this fall?*

Raining here too. Oh those are kinda small, though my tallest peach is only about 7-8 feet tall and that's the one I started from seed, my plums are about at 8-9 feet and my apples (aside from the ones my dad put in about 10 years ago) are about eight or nine feet. (My plums and apples were put in three years ago) I "might" be able to give you some cuttings but it's a pretty iffy might. :/

:highfive:  Thank you. I understand when we are working with such small tree's to begin with. :D

How much rain have ya'll got. Down there? Since Sunday we are only at the half inch mark. The cooler air has kept it from evaporating quickly.

I bought a bundle of 5 Mcintosh's from a peddler at "Trade Days" back in Feburary. $15. All five survived the little bit of snow and ice and cold of march. They are growing and look health. They are the start of our mini orchard. Our sole pear tree beared 6 pears last year. It had grown wild. I trimmed and pruned it this past winter. Hopefully it will bear fruit again soon. I thought our Fig was lost over the winter it is growing well and another has been ordered from Baker Creek. Blueberries will be next-

I want to probagate some sassafrass. The parks frown on me harvesting from them. I have some eldeberry i am going to try to start also.

Quote: We got quite a bit of rain it took awhile to soak in due to all the recent rain. I could not even go out yesterday to tend the birds it was raining to much and I am having trouble walking. DH went out when he got home. All the eggs are muddy and we will have to wash them all.
We only have Marvin's hardware and two Farmers Co-ops and TSC around here that will sell fruit trees. But they won't water them or take care of them and they die! I tried getting another hardware store an hour away to order some fruit trees for me, but they only got out Apple and one pear tree in. Nearly every fruit tree I buy online die. I ordered several Cherry's but finally got two to live. They are bush cherry's! I got them off of Ebay! lol

Have you tried Petals of the Past? South of Birmingham. Just google it. They will ship them. Problem with most of the box stores, no one knows anything about their products. Especially garden sections. Our co-op is hit and miss on plants and trees
