I have two other beds that are so packed full that I am ashamed to take pics of them. I cannot bend over to tend them. They are on the ground. I will have to get Dh motivated to help get them thinned out. It will be an all day chore. lol

Then the problem of what to do with all the bulbs.... I am not planting any more bulbs in the ground that I cannot tend.

Good morning/day to all. Back to garden. Am beating off weeds and squash bugs now. But had to post garden update & some flowers.

Lovely soil. And I love those Iris. I have a soft spot for Iris!!!!

I love wild flowers when they grow where they want. Every year there is more and more flowers that i didn't plant, and they grow in the grass. I love that but than husband comes with a lawnmower and it's something like that : OMG why did u cut the flowers down???
What flowers?? I didn't know they were flowers, looked like weed to me !....
I have a name for my hubby. I call him "Mr. Mows It All." He gets on his mower, and just goes. Nothing is safe from his blades. He has mowed down high bush blueberries, plenty of flowers, rhubarb. Loves to attack zucchini. I once caught him trying to mow down a small cherry tree. Took down my day lilies last year, because they got "weedy". True love over looks a lot of transgression!!!

OMG it sounds just like my husband! Lawnmower is a fix for everything in the garden. I am weeding , planting and sweating - there comes husband :
"Do you need help my love? Wait a minute I will get my mower"....
A number of my flowers decreased dramatically over last two years.

They say good fences make good neighbors. Hubby and I are working on a new concept: Good fences make good lovers! We put a fence up around my garden 2 weeks ago. It will provide a much needed definition between HIS lawn and MY garden. Of course that's not to say that I don't have other spots that are NOT HIS LAWN! There's the orchard, flower beds, HK mound. Then, there's the barren land that either needs to be graded and planted to grass or garden before it grows up to brambles. It's a compacted mess of clay and rocks. I've told him he's more than welcome to dig out the tiller, and claim it as his own!

My husband is terrible with his weed eater. He chewed up my little peach tree that would not grow or bloom or do anything since I planted it 6 years ago. And I have watered and fertilized it just like the others. Well this year it bloomed and has new top growth and a few little peaches on it! The reason... DH chewed into half the bark on one side of the tree, forcing it to bloom and put out new growth!

I told DH he did a good thing this time but I was going to buy some aluminum plates to put around the trees to protect them from his weed eater.

I have to walk in front of my husband with a long stick and shield my flowers and plants from the string mower.... And i have to yell dont kill that! Its a flower! We almost don't have any grass, since our chickens are walking in the backyard. We do not put any chemicals on it. So at least I am trying to save few flowers .

I have old AC cages that I put around my plants I don't want my brother to hit.

Here is the type of dock I use . Very large leaves . Can get 6 foot tall or more . Currently about 4 foot . This one is not bitter when small . I never tried them at this stage .
