If I did not have so many bugs to conted with I might think about a garden. But I am working on getting some blue berries, elderberries, grapes and trees planted in the orchard till spring.

Well done! I've had no luck with germination of my onions. I bought two different seed types an neither the ones I sowed direct or germinated in seed trays did anything. Sowed three 2.5 meter rows and about 8 germinated and 2 came up in seed tray. Half wondering if I should mention it to the seed supplier. Everything else I've grown sprouted fine.

You may want to mention it. Onion seeds are only viable for a short time. A onion seed over a year old probably won't germinate.

I didn't know that. These have only just arrived a few weeks before I sowed so wonder if they were old stock. Does that go for all alliums? A few months back I didn't have much luck with my own 2 yr old shallots (eshallots, spring onions, green onions, scallions or whatever else you call them

) seeds I saved, where last year they all germinated. I've got a couple going to seed now I was going to pull out but sounds like I better leave them go and get some new seed.
