BYC Genetic/Breed Calculator Huge Task Ahead!

It's not guaranteed that I will be the coder.
If someone with a lot of experience comes along, they can gladly do it. My dad and I will at least try to work out how the code should be put together. I am not sure how capable we will be at making it available to be embedded into a website.

It will just need to work in the template HTML of a XenForo page, like my aquarium volume calculator does.

This is IMHO an impossible task. For instance there are several strains of chickens known as "Blues" Montgomery Travelers, Miner Blues, or Arkansas Travelers are just 3 examples. The "test" for purity in a "BLUE" strain is to breed and inbreed brother and sister together several times and if the offspring begin to throw Pyle colored chickens

then your "Blues" are "PURE" In the meantime you will get brown reds, BB Reds, Grays, Duck Wing Grays, maybe a Black chicken or two, a White, some Pumpkins and many other colors and shades that no one can or will agree on.

Here is a small sampling of different colors and there is no fast and hard rule about what color produces what other color or colors. For instance Gray is dominant but if two gray chickens (a Hen and a Rooster both have a gene for the color Black Breasted Red, then appromaxly 25% of these chicks hatched from a GRAY will NEVER produce another GRAY chicken. However the 75% of the 1/2 Gray 1/2 BBR birds will continue to produce the occasional BBR @ approximately 25%. The above 19 color variations just scratch the surface and there are 100s of different color variations besides the 19 shown above. Therefor it becomes a daunting task to breed the BBR color out of a strain or family of 1/2 GRAY 1/2 BLACK BREASTED RED chickens. You're much more likely to enjoy success as a breeder if you will choice a strain, stick with it and try to improve the strain that you already own. In other words every out cross is a gamble and without a sharp sharp hatchet to go along with a cold cold heart you may never get your old original strain of chickens back.

How does this outbreeding and breeding test relate to the calculator?
The calculator isn't meant to deal with strains and breeding out traits. Its purpose is to compute a cross of two or more breeds or colors and give the user a calculated response of traits the offspring possess and express.

From a color/pattern genetics view your post makes very little sense.
For the calculator to work or just from a breeder point of view to calculate an outcome you have to know what genes a bird carries.
If breeders are using different terms for the same patterns or if you know a bird by a term but don't know what it is genetically then it can't be expected to work.
You use the "blues" as an example but what are they genetically? From your post I'm not even sure if the color blue or which color blue is even involved.
You talk about them producing a "pyle colored" offspring.
What genetically is "pyle colored"?
To me pyle is dominate white on wild type (BBR)
You can not produce BBR with dominate white from two birds that don't show dominate white.
If pyle means BBR with splash then you can produce them from birds that carry blue or splash but you make no mention of blue breasted Red or the actual color blue in your out comes or parent stock.
In that example you mention "brown reds, BB Reds, Grays, Duck Wing Grays, maybe a Black chicken or two, a White, some Pumpkins and many other colors and shades" also being produced.
I can't see any two birds producing all of those.
And again you're using terms that don't explain to me the genetics of the birds.
What genetically do you mean by greys? Duckwing greys? Pumpkin? Whites, which white? Recessive or dominate?
You mention "pure" they may be pure for a line or strain but they sure don't sound pure for any color/patterns.
Calculating genetic outcomes isn't that complicated in itself if you know what genetics the birds are carrying.
The issue is there's so many genes possible that its over whelming as a whole. Its not that overwhelming when its broke down to one bird crossed with another bird because there's only so many genes one bird can carry.
You just can't cross two birds and get 18 dozen different outcomes.
You can only get a certain set of outcomes depending on the genes.
Know the genes and you'll know the expected possible outcomes.
If you don't know the genes you'll never know the possible outcomes.

I think we were only drawing the shapes of the crosses. The color crosses are gonna be pictures members submit or something along with some genetic explanation of it. maybe I'm wrong?

We may have to add some gamy birds, I dunno. Lots of people in the US still keep the traditional style cocks, not for fighting of course, but also not for exhibition. Don't kill me if I'm wrong!

It would make the most sense to me to have real pictures of the parent birds. And drawings of the offspring. Possibly with a real life picture of the feather pattern if available.
