That would probably work. Do you have any way to know if it would work, you said it was popping up in your birds. Do you know which birds were producing the green eyes?
Hickory. Her daughter seemed to have it too, which made sense, because she was bred to her brother. That's the main problem with inbreeding in chickens. No birth defects, just increase in unwanted recessives. Just have to breed away from it I guess. As long is you cull away from it, your flock will be green eye free. I can't tell for the next generation what chickens have what eye color, because they are too young. I feel like the females get it more, but I don't think it is sex linked because the articles didn't say it was.

Could just be diet though. So the hens have less colored eyes.
