It depends what you would really want. Several yarn makers have free patterns online that you could look at. If you do a search for free knitting patterns you will not believe what pops up!
 
I just had to add in here that I got a great xmas present 2 years ago....


My sister and i have competions for 'cheapest' present and 'tackiest' present....

she collected all the free tear sheet patterns for knitting and crocheting at ac moore and walmart. She made a little folder for them. It was AWESOME! literally almost and inch and a half thick! All new patterns for free!

Just wanted to throw that out there

Hey Girls, I am just checking in for Scooter. Hope all of you are doing great, keep those needles clicking for her. Just heard from her and she is doing okay. Lots of black and blues but no breaks or anything major needed, just rest and relaxing is required for her and she wil good as new in no time. We all miss her and can not wait to see her back full time! Get better soon Scoot- we are praying for you. Girls just keep on knitting and keeping her in you prayers. I know that everyone here is doing gorgeous things, and we can't wait to see you poet the finished things. You go girls! Trudy

Howdy gals great to see ya'll are doing fine Just thought I 'd pop by and checkin for scoot, I love that Idea for the tear sheet folder for a christmas gift. I might have to borrow that idea if thats ok. Hey gals ya'll should check out the crochetnmore site for some awsome knitting patterns there and here is a few more links to some neat stuff. Y'all, I got some really neet yarn. I bought a couple of big "spools" (for lack of a better word) of it at the thrift store. There, I can buy plastic bags of odds & ends balls of yarn for a dollar or so.

But, I think this stuff was used to make carpet. Seriously, it's almost like sandpaper! LOL Ok, not really THAT abrasive. But pretty abrasive. I think it will make good scrubbing rags for the kitchen. Great for washing dishes and countertops. (I have a 4 yr old, ok? My countertops almost always have something disgusting dried onto them.)

So, I am going to try making some rags. I thought it would make sturdy throw pillows or pet beds, too.

I think you could use it for chain mail if that was still in fashion.
