BYC members in Massachusetts?

Hi all! I just joined yesterday, just in time to go to Chickenstock. I'm on the south shore, and have eleven chicks that I need to winnow down to four (I'd really rather have eleven) because of town rules. Nice to meet so many other locals!

I'm a newbie chicken farmer with 2-week old chicks. My family lives on the South Shore and we are originally from Michigan. All this is new to us, but we are excited! It's been a while since anyone posted on this thread. Are you all still here?

Anyone else an illicit chicken keeper? Anyone else an urban chicken keeper? Anyone else have only 1/10th of an acre? My girls really want me to move to the country, I'm sure, but I love keeping chicks in the city!

I'm from North Central Mass, too (Fitchburg). There are also other Mass people on the New England forum in this section.
I don't have chickens yet, this is my summer for planning the coop/run, but I'm having trouble with black bears in my yard this spring!

They keep coming back. I do feed the wild birds (had to start bringing my feeders in at night) but I'm having second thoughts about adding chickens to the buffet...
