Is it alright to tell people you nominated them? Or is it against the rules?

I don't tell people because I don't want them to feel bad if they don't get nominated.

Exactly right!
Another couple of tips...
Don't nominate yourself or ask for nominations in conversations, signature lines, posts threads, etc. This will instantly disqualify you.
Please also don't nominate each other as a "favor". We can tell when that is happening and those nominations are also disqualified.

Let your personality and presence be so awesome that people want to nominate you for a medal!

Took me awhile to catch up. I was getting alerts on this thread, but not now. I haven't changed any settings. I clicked on Watched Threads, and discovered this isn't the only thread I'm not getting alerts for. I know they are still working hard on this site, so I'll grin, and bear it.
