Thanks! I LOVE picking out colors. I think that is my most favorite part of quilting - playing with different colors and patterns! The idea for using quilt blocks for potholders kinda hit me one day when I had an extra square left from the first quilt I made. I used it to make a potholder for my mom. She loved it so much that I decided to make more.

They're relatively quick and easy and a lot of fun!

Wildsky - that grocery bag pattern is awesome! Maybe if I had one that folded like that I'd remember to use the cloth bags more often (it seems like I always forget my bags at home or in another vehicle). Thanks for sharing!

Oh and Sara, the one pattern I used really isn't much different than the one you used for yours - it's the double friendship star (the one on the right - yellow, red, and plaid). It's a pretty easy pattern (and kind of my favorite since it was the first block I tried). The Ohio star is pretty easy, too. The blue one (All Hallows Variation from Marcia Hohn's pattern) was probably the toughest and most time consuming, but I LOVE that one. The octagon one I kind of made similar to the All Hallows one, but I used scraps and kind of made it up as I went (which is why it didn't come out quite right, but my mom liked it anyway).

Wow...more lovely potholders!

I've been working on the school house, with a log cabin edging..(quilt). ..so I decided to do the school house block for potholders!
(my pattern is the two chimmney's)

For the ladies retreat I would like a church...anyone seen a pattern? May try the one chimmney, and turn it into a steeple or cross, but not sure how to do that...anyone? And add in an embroidery logo...or initial....

Thanks again for all your ideas! What a great group of folks!
