I have a (fairly) new neighbor and you have inspired me to do something similar for them! No veggies because we've had 60 days of 100+ degree heat this summer, but I -DO- have eggs and a pattern for a chicken potholder.

thanks for the idea!!

Hey I want that pattern !

Looking at all the pieces in the pattern and comparing it to the Bird of Paradise pattern....it is the same just different color placement.

Well, while I was out running errands today, I stopped in at one of the local Hancock Fabrics stores. Picked up some Christmas fat quarters and a Sidewinder. They had them on sale for $19.99 Can't wait to try it out!

Whoo Hoo!!! yet another quilting club I can join!!

I don't remember NOT sewing, I think I may have had a needle in my hand before I could ride a bike. I've always had little projects, like curtains, tunics, costumes, etc but when I was living in Chicago and out of work on those LONG dark winter days I decided to get back into quilting, hadn't quilted since I was eight. A couple of years later we got to move back down south where it's warm in the winters and landed in Central Texas. We lived in 'company housing' in a little community of a whopping population of 50 people and 3 sand plants for the first 5 months we were here. I was bullied into attending the local quilting thing by the most wonderful little old grandma and I started hand quilting again. It's one of the last hand quilting clubs in Texas and I'm the youngest by 30 years.
I have tons of UFO's and people are always gifting me with interesting fabric... I got a box of corduroy a few months ago and a corduroy quilt top a few weeks ago.
I don't 'sew by the numbers' and rarely use patterns, at least not as they are meant to be used, I usually change them to fit what I have in my head.
I love bright colors and jewel tones, though pink is and exception... not a fan.
Currently I'm building a scrap quilt, well more than one, for hubby out of his old work clothes in celebration of him losing 75 pounds. I've got the curtain material picked out and ready to go to make curtains for our 2 small bedrooms. I'm finishing a bunch of embroidered panels that were started 30 years ago, mom found them in a thrift store and wants them in a quilt ASAP. Have 4 lap/crib quilt tops that need to be quilted and have a special little hand stitched project I'm making for the Voca ladies out of some fabric I found in the club closet.

You sound very talented. I'd like to see some pics of some of your projects. Maybe it will inspire me to get a little more sewing accomplished.

I don't think I can have too much to do actually

EXACTLY what I did last week, no kidding! I have used it about 6 times since then..don't overfill the bobbin or it wont fit in your machine, did that twice, otherwise it's awesome and easy and the 10 bucks off didn't hurt either!
