BYC's 13th Annual New Year's Day Hatch-Along - 2022

Pics
There are a couple left that developed beyond the first week. I am not seeing any signs of life, but don't have the heart to pull them yet.
If they’ve gone this long I’d wait. I had a couple ( a spring clutch hatched by my broody) that everyone was sure were dead after candling. I debated tossing before they exploded but couldn’t bring myself to do it. They both hatched. One was the first of them all to hatch.

I hang on until the end if I'm not sure, too. I've had duck eggs especially that fooled me and I was glad I left them in.

I have 18 shipped Bielefelder hatching egg's that are being delivered today as soon as the mailman get's here, so I'll be in the January hatch-a-long too.

I have 6 Bielefelder hatching eggs coming that shipped today! I'll set them as soon as this batch hatches and I clean the incubator. Looking forward to being part of the January hatch-along, too.

As for this New Year's Day hatch, I'm rapidly losing optimism. I have one of my few remaining eggs that looks to either be significantly lagging behind the others or in the process of quitting on me. I've left it for now but am worried about another explosion; looks like I'll be on pins and needles and watching that one like a hawk all week.

My New Year's hatch, may be a New Year's eve hatch since I set them on the 10th, in the AM. I am on Day 17. I am warming up the hatching incubator today. Lock down is tomorrow for me...
Mine are going from a foam incubator with turner and fan to a foam still air, with no turner and no fan, distilled water, and a penny, before 1982, (zinc helps with purifying the water) in the troughs. I have gotten good results with this method, 7/7 on Dec 9th, and 11/11 on Dec. 21.
I like the eggs to go on cord so the eggs don't roll about. Below are the Dec. 21 hatch.

Below are just a reminder of the eggs I set for New Years...

I have 14, in the running for New years, and 4 ,second to the last row, that are not in that contest set for a later date..

See how the ones I have set in the lower pic do look different? Those eggs were from different hens I wanted to test out.

Great! I guess I'll see you over in that hatch-a-long too! I already started up my other incubator for the Bielefelder's to go into for tomorrow. Only 16 will be going into that one though because 2 arrived broken. So, now I have duck in one incubator, and I'll have chicken's in the other one.
