How many eggs can you fit in a Brinsea Maxi II incubator if you take the turner out?
Answer, 31!🤣
Had to do some juggling now that some of the eggs are in lockdown. I normally use one incubator for incubating and one for hatching, but my dates are all askew this time around.😊
These are the eggs that are still incubating. I’m using the NR 360 for hatching.

Are you manually turning? I took the turner out of my little one (not a Brinsea though) so I could fit more, and manually turned them. Them turner didn't work that well any way though, and the embryos were getting stuck on one side, which was another reason I took it out. 😉

I’m late joining but I have eggs due to hatch on Monday. First time hatching and first time broody hen. I just couldn’t break her and I was able to get my hands on some blue partridge Brahma eggs! Plus some OE and Marans eggs and a Shetland egg as a bonus. I started with a dozen and I’m down to 9 with one that got broken and two that clearly weren’t developing . . . plus a couple more that I’m pretty sure aren’t viable. The egg pics are when I candled on day 14

Good luck! 😊

October 13th Candling Update (set on 10th):
All 22 of the original eggs set in my NR360 are showing signs of development! Here are some pictures of a few (I didn't want to bore y'all with 22 individual pictures, but they all are at the same developing level. The darker ones are harder to see, but development is definitely present!):

I know some people wait until day 5 and/or are really strict on the days they candle, but I've been hatching for a while now and I just candle when I feel like it (except during lock down) because candling (when done correctly and carefully) does not harm the embryo. It doesn't hurt to take the lid off of the incubator, you could practically do it every day with no problem (which I don't). A broody hen will get off of her eggs for usually between 30 minutes to an hour every day and it does not harm her eggs, so it's the same thing in an incubator, as long as you know what you're doing. :p

To each his own! Whatever works for you, stick with it. 😊
With light-colored eggs I candle on day 3. Most of my eggs have been green or blue and those make it difficult to see embryo development at the best of times. I stagger hatch. it's how I began and I never lockdown. The eggs get turned when I candle.
So I agree, everyone should do what works best for them as far as incubating. :thumbsup
That's fantastic all 22 eggs are showing development! :clap

It’s day 3! I candled today! 3/9 don’t look fertile but I am happy with that!:bun I also added Salmon Faverolle eggs yesterday! And Ill maybe add Araucana eggs tomorrow!:fl
You have a variety of breeds to set! I set older eggs and quite often don't have mine all develop. But the same, I am ok with that. What day do you leave them to to make certain they aren't developing? I think I leave mine until day 7. If they're dark and I can't see, I keep them in longer.

Welcome Solanacae!! It's great to have you aboard! Those are some lovely colors. They do make it harder to see what's going on but it's worth it. First hatch and first broody...exciting!! :wee

We were all the way down to 49F this morning! Tomorrow will be very cold in the morning....45F!

:lau
That's pretty cold! In my mind, it's ok to get cold or snow AFTER Halloween. Because once Halloween's finished, all bets are off. This is an assault to my senses getting this cold snap. That or I'm getting too old. :old:gig
(It might be the getting too old part):lau

Did you see what @R2elk got for snow? 13 inches as of yesterday morning! runcirclsmiley2.gif
