BYC's Software Conversion - Discussion & Information

One thing I love about the XF software is that we can edit our PM's (called conversations over there) after we sent them! So, for people like me who often spot an embarrassing typo or missed word after hitting sent, it's great, you can go in and edit your message quickly. Long PM conversations also get divided, like the threads here, into pages, so if you have a long natter with someone, or a group, you don't have to scroll to death to get to the new messages, you go straight to them. 

I saw that too. Love it. If that's what the new site is gonna be like, I'm thinking this move will not be as bad as I thought.

I've been a member of all three sister sites, BYH, TheEasyGarden.com and SufficientSelf.com. The software takes a little while to get used to, but it's not bad. There are some things over there that I love, like being able to edit PM's, the alerts, the auto saving of drafts, dragging and dropping pic uploading, etc. I will miss some of the features here, but there will be other nice things there, that we don't have here.

I don’t really know if I like the change or not to be honest, but I do know that im crossing my fingers that the colours will stay the same, ya know, and not the browns like BYH.

I feel like im doomed, I can barely work BYH out, and now BYC is changing to that platform?

Think of it as a change on the "back end". The overall look is very similiar. There will be a few changes in how things are done, but it will look much the same.

I haven't gotten over the last format change over here.

Maybe the new forum will be better. Maybe.

This is slightly amusing and not surprising at all because https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/1145294/byc-format-or-byh-format/60#post_18222676 (last line of post) ....I was 7 months off in predicting it, but I think that's close enough.

Are the mods going to be the same? Because seven of them left around the last time you changed BYC. So I have to wonder about this time.

But I guess you know what you're doing at this point.

Will be waiting to learn the ins and outs of the new forum.

The people, however, are the ones that matter most. I hope in that way, BYC will always be able to stay the same.

I don't recall any moderators leaving in the last conversion, and I don't see any current moderators leaving. From time to time, people have lives and have to step away from internet life. It's just the flow. This is all volunteer work too.

Yeah, I don't recall mods leaving specifically because of the changeover. I know I didn't, but then, I cannot recall when the change was in regard to when I quit the "modship". I was simply burned out. Then, of course, it was probably fortuitous since I had a house fire not long after that and was way overstressed by life as it was.

A legend page,easily accessible to mobile would be nice. I do not see the point of owning a computer nowadays. I do everything with my phone. I'd imagine there are a lot of folks who agree. Its a pain in the tail feathers switching from Mobil to desktop to access different features. It should be the SAME.

Hopefully we will have a Home Page with daily stats , subscription notices, etc. Have I mentioned that even though I understand, I hate change.
