CA Anyone???

Hi! I'm in Modesto. Grew up in Oakland and lived in Union City for over 20 years. We moved out here just over a year ago. We had a really rough first year and we just moved into a very small place with a very huge yard. I had to give up my 26 MPC babies, my Polish and Dom hens and my guineas. I sobbed like a baby, so hubby said he'd help me get my chicken fix back up and running when we moved in here. We were actually buying from an owner who didn't mention they hadn't made a payment in a year. Soooo, this is our resting place until we can recoup and find "our house". Right now I just want to rest, garden and watch dogs and chickens. My 4 yr old granddaughter and my 13 yr old son are having a blast with the birds.
I saw some yahoo groups mentioned, but can't find them???? Would someone mind sending me in the right direction?

Hi! I live in Pixley, California.

Pixley is halfway between Bakersfield and Fresno just off Hwy 99.
It's a lil spot in the middle of nuthin' and I love it here!

My best friend from Junior High moved to Sanger the summer before high School. I have 3 grandchildren in High School now. I think that was the last time I was ever in Fresno other than driving through. LOL I do remember seeing Pixley on a sign.
I did see someone selling BCMs there and it's all I can do to not drive out and buy a couple. I see so many birds for sale there and in Bakersfield.
I'm really bad with my chicken addiction. We needed to find a cheap rental while we're looking for a place to buy and also be close to my son's school in Ceres. I picked out a dinky house with a bigggggg backyard. I knew this house was small, but didn't realize how small until I had a arm full of towels and could find a linen closet. Hubby new I wanted to yard to start replacing all of my babies. Then the first monday that came around he realized my real reason for wanting to move to this area. I can walk 2 1/2 short blocks to get to the poultry auction. Life is good.
I was supposed to hold off for a month, but................silly man........it's spring. Spring means chickens. I did kind of get sidetracked though. I had breeds I wanted to replace like my WCBP and my Marans and Wellies. Oh and he owes me a white Phoenix too. Just to mention a few. I've somehow become a Game mom. I bought my rooster and then a few weeks later I bought 4 hens and 5 little pullets. This week I met a nice lady that was replacing some of her birds and we sat together and couldn't believe how much some of these birds were going for. Some of the auction prices latey have been higher that private breeder prices. Amazing. Hubby called to ask how I was and finally asked what I had bought. It was just a little parakeet cage and a gold laced polish, but my new auction buddy and I went in on a pen of hens before we left. I'm so blind I thought they were games, but they're mixed. Was kind of hoping they were EEs but I get an off white egg and a tan egg.
With this overgrown yard I really miss my guineas. Grandson is supposed to come over after school tomarrow to weed wack till he drops. Last 2 weeks at auction they had pairs and I was sooo good to pass them up.
Yeah ok!!! I really need to learn to post smaller.
I also need to find those groups so I can find some breeders near here. Gotta get back on track!
