I think the title is OK. Even if her chicks remain healthy it's stressful to have such bad communication with a hatchery. We can also get healty chicks from hatcheries that actually talk to us and assure us.

I tell ya........I had the same experience. It's stressful. Hope Cackle reads this forum once in awhile.

they charged me for a catalog on 5/22/08 and never got it.
Good thing there are many more hatcherys to choose from. Too bad someone from their PR dept didn't browse BYC. Will

i have never ordered from cackle, i dont know why but i have NEVER had a problem with Estes Hatchery and i only order from there. they sent me top-quality birds and none of them died. I will admit the prices for the birds are much higher in Estes then at cackle but (as always) what you pay for IS WHAT YOU GET. the service at estes was excellent.

As far as quality goes, it sounds like Mcmurry has better than Ideal. Those are the two that I'm split between. I can get 15 more birds at Ideal for the same price at Mcmurry for 26. I want to get the rarer breeds so i think it's important to have good quality.
BUT, Ideal is closer to me and they have some breeds that Mcmurry does not.
I don't want wacky birds or sick ones... A feed store I got ducks from uses ideal all the time. I don't know their shipping costs either.
I've herd both hatcheries have good customer service.
Any thoughts?

glad the birds arrived safely...whatever you do never contact that idiot of an organization P.E.T.A. Heard the other day on the radio they want to buy sea world to release the animals and turn it into a virtual reality show.

I used ideal last fall got OK birds. none died until the heat got a few of them this summer . However the BO rooster I got was awesome large bird great form and gorgeous. He was one that the heat got
