Well neither worker showed up. Both said they would but neither one did. I did what I could and will finish what I can tomorrow, but I need them to come and finish installing 2 windows and do all the trim.

Welcome to my world! No workers here 2 days in a row. The contractor could not get hold of one guy, the other guy is still sick. I am going to start building a triple hole rabbit cage tomorrow. Bet i finish it before the guys finish the goat shed. Maybe your guys will show up tomorrow. I have to get up early to take the cat for surgery.

I don't suppose you two could start deducting from their bill?

We had a roofer come in and put a metal roof on our house. He put the roof on. His crew never picked up after themselves, trampled my new bushes, didn't put the trim on or finished up the chimney. We cut their bill in half. That was 2 years ago.

We wrote on the check "Final Bill" and they never said anything.

Right before we wrote the check, the owner made two appts. to come out and inspect the work. He never showed. We gave him a year to follow through and he never did. I google him periodically to see how he is doing. Other people have the same complaints as we did.

I wish it was like the old days, where your word meant something.

It's the human condition, old as humans....some folks are good, some are not.

I haven't hired many, but I always start out with asking for a copy of their license, or at least their insurance. That weeds the punks out right at the get-go. Then I present a list/description of what I want done for them to quote off of, discussion and changes may ensue. I sign the quote, they sign the list of items if they haven't been spelled out in quote...that includes lead times and conditions of any delays.

Chats and handshakes don't often stand up, things in writing mostly do as clarity in communication is important.

Oh dear. Well I pay my guys by the hour so no work no money. We buy the materials from the hardware store ourselves so no surprises there either. I am happy with the work they do and they clean up after themselves and are fairly careful, it is just this not showing up or showing up and only working a few hours. I don't know how they live. One guy worked at a local hardware store for 24 years full time, so I am not sure why he is so helter skelter with coming here to work.

Today there are horrible winds so I don't know if they will come. They can go into the shed to work, but who knows if they will come or not. I am expecting the electricity to go out at any moment. I want to put the time up inside the coop but I am having a major flare from working so much on the coop and I don't know if I will be able to get out there and do anything or not. I am really anxious to wrap this project up so we will see.

I don't know how they live. One guy worked at a local hardware store for 24 years full time, so I am not sure why he is so helter skelter with coming here to work.

Obviously have other means of income...retired and working for 'fun'.
That doesn't excuse the lack of common courtesy or professional deportment,
but might explain why.
