Last night as my daughter and I were working with Willow, my daughter noticed the egg was sideways again. So Willow is able to move the egg end over end, at least that's the case recently. I'm guessing this is why she's been able to pass any poop. It's still in the same place, just inside her vent, where it's been for days now. I also noticed that Willow seemed to have a lot of sensation in her vent. Anytime I did anything, her vent would start pulsating, which hasn't been the case. I could feel her vent muscles contracting as I checked her internally. Her crop only had a small amount in it and the poop she was able to pass was fairly dry, in spite of the lubrication. She is able to walk around and scratches at the floor. With the discovery of her crop functioning more, her vent sensation improved, and her behavior, I decided to once again lube her up, do another round of calcium, and tubed fluids. I'm hopeful that she can lay this egg. By the time I finished up it was really late (like 1am) I'm going to check on her in just a little while.I'd try a bit of lubrication and see if she's able to push it out.
Fat end first (coming out) is the correct position.
How is the smell of her poo ? Has that settled down nowLast night as my daughter and I were working with Willow, my daughter noticed the egg was sideways again. The smell is better, but it's just so dry.How is the smell of her poo ? Has that settled down now
Are you able to turn that egg for her ?
Use a lot of lubeThe smell is better, but it's just so dry.
My apologies. I meant to include this in my last reply but it slipped my mind. By the time I finished with giving meds, fluids, and lube, she had turned the egg to the correct position![]()
No, I haven't been able to get anywhere around the egg. To inject the lube, I used my pinky to open the vent enough so I didn't pinch anything between the syringe and the egg on accident. I injected the lube on both sides of my pinky and then gently massaged her abdomen in hopes of getting those muscles to spread the lube. Just thinking about things, I bet she wouldn't be as tensed up if I laid her on her side, wrapped up and covering her head. I've been working on her while she's perched on my other hand or on the ledge of something. I think someone even mentioned laying her down on her side but for some reason, it just now clicked in my mind.Use a lot of lube
Are you able to get a finger in to lube the egg higher up ?
None at all. It's like the egg is in another part of her. I know that may sound crazy. Maybe it's in her abdomen. I don't know. I can feel the egg but I can't see it internally. I'm at a loss for what else to do. I'm continuing the calcium and lube. I don't know what else to do. Thank you for asking about herAny luck?
