I would love to enter a couple of mine, but I think they're too young? Is anyone out there involved in showing their chickens? I need guidance...
hu.gif

Also, the Tuolumne County Fair is July 7-10th here in Sonora. Is anyone going?

This will be our 2nd show. We entered a 4-H one in March. We had no idea what we were doing (still don't) but people are so nice and helpful at shows.

Plus the girls just like to talk to other kids that are into chickens.

My grand daughter was supposed to be showing her Australorps but that didn't work out. They are gorgeous birds but they are way big & she is small for 9 years old & actually they scare her but not her 23 month old brother.....Go figure. We have entered eggs but in the open division. Living right here in Turlock we are close to the fair so will probably be back & forth. You would be welcomed to come by if you wanted to.

That's a great idea

I live in Sonora, but I'm moving to Sandpoint Idaho near the end of July. Is that too soon to meet up? There's a nice park across from the county fairground that has lots of trees and Woods Creek runs through it, or did you have somewhere else in mind? Perhaps something closer to Black Oak Casino?

Would you want everyone to bring some of their chickens or just a human meet up? Let me know, I'm willing to help in anyway that I can. Would be so nice to put a face with a name!

I like downtown Sonora or Columbia just because it's closer for me. LOL. I take about 15 miles of back roads to get to highway 49 in Plymouth, then I take it up through Jackson, then Mokelumne Hill, up through Angels Camp and into Sonora. It's about 70 miles for me & it's kinda a hard drive on my car, so that's why I was thinking we could get together when it cools. But if you're leaving the area, I think we should make every effort to meet up before that.

Are any of you planning to come to the BYC meetup at the California State Fair this year on July 31st? I think I am going to have a couple of door prizes this year. We had fun last year, and about 8 or 10 people came. I think we can get more to come this year. I was thinking about having some kind of little doo-dad for a door prize… have everyone check their odometer & whoever travels the farthest gets a prize… stuff like that. Maybe have everyone put their name in a hat and give away a prize that way. I'm going to try to get 3 or 4 little "door prizes" together and see if we can entice more people to come.

I would love to come & bring a couple Chicken lovin' friends along. It's just keeping track of myself & what I am doing & when........LOL. I have been to a BYC meet up at Cheryl's last year & several Delta Backyard Chicken meetups in the Lodi/Antioch/Linden area. I love it...... I really need to make myself a scheduleof some type. It is a shame that I miss out of "good" stuff just because I don't keep track of what's going on.....LOL

Hi! I am a newbie in Atascadero, California. Just wanted to introduce myself. This is my first experience with chickens and so far so good. I have 6 "mutts" that were given to me by a friend who had too many chickens to take care of herself. Any advice given is welcome!
