My new pens are up & full.....!!!!!! What a joy. I am on cloud nine for sure & I picked up 15 chicks from Georgia, 2 weeks old, at the post office yesterday all healthy & happy. Into the newly emptied brooder they went. I hatched out over 130 quail for a friend & it was such fun watching those tiny little buggers.....LOL. They have all left for their new homes.
I have a Delta Poultry Meetup this Saturday at Pizza Plus in Linden & guests are welcome. We will see a chicken movie & have Pizza & beer. I am taking some frinds with me. Such fun times.!!!!!

Thanks Margarete,
I got Exchequer Leghorns for a nice white egg layer that was fancy & unusual. I ordered them from Cathy Peters of Lone Pine Farms in Georgia. She was great to work with. She is a horse person too. She custom hatched them for me & sent chicks. She has a Lone Pine Farms Facebook page with pictures. After that San Hill order disaster I revowed never to order from a hatchery again.
How are your new Buffs doing?

theyre doing great! so very cute, all happy and healthy, congrats on the cool new breed!

I found a whole pile of cute this evening. I'd been hazing naughty hens out of the garden for months. Sometimes I'd find a rogue nest, but I hadn't lately. Tonight, when I went out, the usual hen ran back towards the chicken yard like she always does, but there was still movement in my compost pile. I did a double-take when I saw another hen, this one with a mess of babies! It was one of my other Easter Eggers, and I hadn't even noticed her missing. I have a lot of chickens, after all.

So look what I have living in the old Christmas tree that I haven't cut up yet:

It looks like 13 babies, and they're most likely all Wyandotte crosses, as that's what my main roosters are. One is half Silver Laced, half Blue Laced Red (my main roo) and the other one is all Silver Laced.

She appreciates the food and water, and does not appreciate the papparazzi.
