California - Northern

I'm ready. I think I lost one of my Bresse Chickens yesterday. I only have one breeding pair and I could only see one when I locked up. I have been letting a lot of the chickens free range so that the runs won't get to messy. I hate getting home from work after dark. I don't get home until 7:00. It a bummer to be fumbling around it the dark... Plus my poor Chicken are left with the coops open in the dark for a few hour. I hate it!

Did you find it Molly?

rain finally easing off here in Sonoma Co, after a very rainy night, with lots of lightning, the thunder was shaking the house! i wonder whether the chickens wake up to notice, or just sleep through nighttime storms?

hoping for a bit of a respite before the next one is slated to hit tonight. it is, after all, officially winter now! yesterday was my birthday, & also the last day to turn fall semester grades in, so grading is pretty much all i did -- but now have two weeks to do almost nothing but *write*, trying to get a book project done.

jealous of those of you who have snow!

Happy Birthday Lawatt!!!!!!

That happened to us once. Luckily the branch fell on the front windshield so the car was ok. Windows are not cheap though.

Accuweather shows orange to red rain moving over us. It is yellow now and it looks like another hour of the heavy stuff. It is moving towards Auburn and Placerville and snow up past them. You guys up there will be wet for a while.

I am waiting an hour to let the chickens out today.
we where not so lucky in March of 2011 our car got crushed in a snow storm.

I know some people have been having a hard time keeping their chicks alive in this cold....fyi I will be selling this brooder if you guys need it, PM me
awsome !!!

raining here. last night I did a bone head thing. When it was snowing the chicken run door opened into the yard. I ran up locked up shut the door and went out the chicken yard. Failed to shut the gate.
Walked up to let them all out and saw a headless Huey pulled through the fence. he was next to the gate so what ever did it was pretty dumb when it could of went 2 feet around and ate him completely. Both my icelandic hens are gone though they could be hiding in the trees.
It is very windy and rainy . I left poor Huey where he was with the exception of moving him to the other side of the fence. That will also trigger my flood light. I did not notice this last night so it may of been late. poor guy was probably sleeping there.
If I see anything tonight I will have a clear shot. Last thing I need is Racoons or skunks or possums around.
