This mornings chicken drama.
Well, ok....
My mom lived up in Lake County and had her assortment of farm animals: peacocks, chickens, geese, sheep, ostrich..
Anyway - the Peacock and the male goose were always at war. The peacock would come into the animal area after free ranging to get the chicken food and the goose always chased him off. The peacock would fly off into a tree and the goose would stand there complaining.
One day, when I was there, the goose did a sneak attach from behind the peacock when he was spreading out his tail - and caught the peacock by his rear end. Not exactly sure where - maybe a rear thigh area. The peacock then took off into flight, dragging the surprised goose behind him - both flapping frantically. The peacock ended up in a tree after dropping the goose to the ground from about 10 feet in the air. It was quite a comical sight, that goose was too heavy to fly well. The goose never tried to get the peacock after that - and the peacock always kept an eye out for that goose.

Congratulations! So exiting to get a new home....and coop! Pictures please!Tomorrow and that is the first thing I am doing lol. Now with these Dominique's I will need to add another.Very Cool! Welcome! What a great story, must have been amazing to see those two take off. The peacock got a good lesson on where the term "goosed" came from!Well, ok.... When we first got chickens I swore I'd never have a rooster. Now I'll never go without one.thanks Deann -- I will mull the pros and cons of having a roo (i've already become persona non grata with my neighbor, so not sure it would make much of a difference, but i also don't want to further enrage him!) & get back to you in a day or two. it's greatly appreciated!! if i DO get a roo, priorities would be 1) friendly/non-aggressive (which i suspect applies to all of your birds, with how well you raise them!) and 2) not insanely noisy.
Adorable!Do you think these guys are cute?
I am going to get some hatching eggs for these in January! Blue chickens that lay blue eggs....
Gorgeous green eggs! They are nice looking eggs for sure.
Super egg color!![]()
Bad picture but after getting home from seeing Deb and Molly. Molly you truly have a nice set up. even after all the rain.
I finally got a Crele penedesenca egg today. I have no idea which one laid it as I have 5 hens that all look way past ready lol.
My rooster seems to like all the hens so I am going to start trial hatching once I get a few more.
Agreed on the Rooster. When we first got chickens I swore I'd never have a rooster. Now I'll never go without one.
