Thank You!

I keep checking the nest box for Olive colored eggs too. The Marans OEs are getting close--They are between 5 and 6 months old.

Congrats on the cute lil chicks and dark eggs!

How do my darkest Del eggs compare, in shade of brown, to your Maran, Pene etc. eggs?

Any idea how many are developing? I'm so impatient.

Thanks everyone, for all those that responded and gave feedback on ducks and geese! Haven't made any moves on things. Surprisingly, we're having lots of visitors in March and April from the east coast, so now it's all about making the place look nice! Spring cleaning!

How long have you been feeding it and which brand? Are feeding just soy free or the organic (over half again more then the soy free)? Or soy and corn free? What difference did you see? Better production? Fertility? Shiny feathers? Smiling Chickens? Better attitudes? No more hot flashes?

So darling! I love watching hens with their chicks. Betty seems like such a good mommy.

Aw, sweet Betty!! How neat to see. I love mamas and babies.

I had so much more to say but I've got a migraine coming on. Frustrating. Malcolm is still nursing so there's only so much I can do for them. But I wanted to say that I've been putting out big girls (who are almost three weeks old) into the brooder with the little ones (one week old) one at a time. Their brooder shares a screen wall, so they're kind of used to them. Anyway, none of the big girls liked it. They all went over to the screen and peeped loudly and paced back and fourth, wanting to get back to their buddies. BUT one of the little Buff Orpingtons is showing his rooster colors and would go over with his chest puffed out and bump them if they got too close. So proud! What a good little man. He didn't seem over the top with it.

I really want to get a gate for our driveway. It's very private but we keep getting people drive up the driveway and it's really unsettling, especially because it's usually so quiet. It's just the kids and chickens and I here during the day, too. One crazy women kept saying "I used to live here" and I had to say "Okay, but we live here now and I am asking you to leave and not come back" multiple times. Creepy.

i've been feeding it to them more or less since they shifted off of chick starter (my chickens are only 7-8 months old still) -- i'm using the Bar-Ale 16% layer "all natural" soy free, but it's not all organic -- this is the only non-soy the feed store closest to my house carries that's produced relatively locally.

and the chicklets are all quite healthy and currently laying around 8 eggs a day (there are 11 of them, and the two CLs just started laying in the past couple of days), but i've got nothing to compare it to -- only that they seem to like it, and all look nice and shiny. no one's gone broody yet (although one did a serious fake in that direction over the weekend), so no idea about fertility.

sorry not to be more helpful!

and so sweet to see betty and her babies -- i'm hoping one of mine decided to get down to broody-business!
