Welcome to the thread Flowers, I'm in the Placerville area, so just down the hill from you.
Now this seems like a good thread with very nice chicken people! I think I'll stay and listen for a while...

Is anyone near the Sierra Nevada mountains. I'm on top of them ;-)

I have bee lurking a bit. I have a fb page for local chicken people and others too. I made the Ameraucana the breed of the week this week and shared what I have learned here on BYC. Next week I will have the Aracuana (sp) and the following week EEs.

Welcome new people. I am new too and am over west of you Foothills residents off Highway 20.

That's where I am. I think I am right off Hwy. 20 but it's 6 miles off!

I will not even attempt to catch up. I know how fast this thread moves when I am gone.

Ron- how are the duck eggs coming along?

I've rehomed all my drakes except my 1 Pekin and all the rest are Appleyards. Got my last batch today of SA babies. Love them!

So my count is 21 duck hens, 6 drakes (5 SA and 1 Pekin) but at least one of the SA drakes will be processed for the table. Possibly 2.
So when I am all done with my shifting around I will 11 various layer breeds for eggs, 10 Appleyard hens and 3 total drakes - 2 SA and 1 Pekin. I might try to squeeze a 3rd SA drake in if they aren't too aggressive.

Gave away from of the baby roos I was able to spot in my 4 weekers. Still watching the rest.

I do not know how many roos my broody has with her- I haven't really checked but she has managed to keep all 10 adopted chicks alive. :D When I spot the roos do I just take them away from her? Will she notice and get mad at me? She loves me now. When I call her name she comes running with all her chickies in tow, knowing I am going to give them all treats. Just nab them at night I am thinking?

14 are developing. They look amazing when you candle them!

They go into lockdown on the 14th and hatch on the 16th so ten days to hatch!
