Well hatching officially stresses me out. LOL I had the therm up to 100 yesterday and suddenly is dropped to 97. I kept fiddling with the thermostat to get the temp up. Struggled. Hours of adjusting and waiting later I realized one of my young daughters was messing with the cords and it had gotten moved and the sensor was laying at the bottom, trapped by the turner. Despite the 24 hour no touch rule I had to remove the lid and rescue the cord. The turner couldn't even turn properly. I adjusted the position and TAPED it into place this time. But as I waited for the true temps to be measures it was in excess of 103. I almost died. I am hoping I didn't kill the eggs in the process. From about 6pm on I was able to finally keep it at 101 during the day, it dipped to 100.something at night and then back up to 101.something during the day. Steady. So THAT part has me happy. I am just really hoping I didn't damage them yesterday.

The duck eggs go in tomorrow. So worse case *wipes tear*- no goose eggs hatch and I buy from Jen C who has some gorgeous Brown Africans. But I am still determined to hatch some duck eggs to finish out what I am doing for now.

Getting some Welsummers eggs from someoneeeeee in this thread that has the prettiest Wellies and Barnies (now who could that be? LOL) and I want some more bantie BLRWs so maybe I can coordinate all the eggs and hatch them all at the same time (adjusting for times of course).

Anyone in here want some baby ducks? Free- I'm just test hatching and I don't care to keep any at this point. There will be some pure Pekins, some barnyard mixes and possibly an Appleyard or two (its a stretch but possible!) - if I can make out the SA though I might keep it.

That is strange, I dont see any ads pop up and dont have a special membership of any sort. Is it when you run over the ads on the right ? There are just a couple on min and I have to click on them for them to come up.

The Bounce one is the most annoying. It is on almost every page that I go to. It is either at the top or in one of 2 places on the right side. I just noticed a new video advertiser popped up on the page: Belle Sigerson Morrison. Shoes? Now my list is up to 3 different ones. All I have to do is hover my cursor over the ad and it takes off. On some of the ads, the video is playing constantly with no audio. It is distracting! I am hoping that there is a solution!

Beautiful eggs!!! I love having different colors in my egg basket! My Ameraucanas and one Cream Legbar are keeping me stocked with blue eggs this year!

I see most of you have multiple breed of chickens and seems like you have a lot more than I do but need some advice on setting up breeding pens for my flock. I used to have a big barn for my Silkies and was able to set up as many pens as I wanted and have separate pens for however many I needed. After about 8 yrs not having them I am setting up a new breeding program in a much smaller space. I only have an 8x12 coop and plan to keep at least two different colors and probably three. Right now i have black, partridge, splash and white but the whites are going to my Daughter and I plan to concentrate on the blacks in particular. In the past I would have always had back up roosters, a nice sized grow out pen etc. I am wondering if I would be better off to house my Roosters separately or with the girls in breeder pens all the time. ( trio or quad) I am a little concerned about Roosters by themselves in small cages.. I have never kept them like that. I have three separate outside run spaces, one 8x12 and 2 8x16. they can be divided if needed. I also have to store my feed and shavings in the coop which takes up some floor space. If any of you have pictures of your set up you could share or have any suggestions it would be appreciated. This is how the inside is now...4 4x4 pens (one has the feed buckets in it) and a 4x 8 open space.
