Quote: Did you line the top and bottom of the box with bubble wrap? The box should have been big enough to be kept upright for the trip. Single boxes often have damage to one egg in the center of the box.
I would like to hear how the shipment did and see a picture.
Thank You!
After that I just made some lol. Well and I'm pregnant so that definitely got my carving for salt going haha! Now I want pop corn!
The bottom was lined with a single layer of bubble wrap. The top was not. At no point during packaging were eggs touching the bottom, each other or top. I squished it all from various sides. I marked the box and hope the handlers respect that. I don't think anything will be broken. I just hope no one feels like doing a shake the box experiment because I know that can damage the air cells. *fingers crossed*Did you line the top and bottom of the box with bubble wrap? I have to admit my husband helped. He ships off equipment that is really fragile (electronics with fragile pieces, even glass) that is worth thousandsssss of dollars so I had him go over what I was doing lol.The bottom was lined with a single layer of bubble wrap. Nice pictures everyone!
I have 22 barnevelders, 3 welsummers and 1 black sex link in lockdown. Can't wait! Only one looks questionable, the rest look perfect!
I am hatching some too...Well, they are at my kids school, so i am kind of missing having my incubator here at home. But the first dozen have hatched and the next dozen were pipping as of the end of classes today. I set them in a staggered hatch so that both my kids pre school class and 1st grade class could take turns having chicks hatch in their classroom. I gave 6 pullets to the preschool teacher to take home that hatched this morning and brought the cockerel chicks home.I would guess that if one of the Orpington chicks has a more prominent looking comb, it could be a rooster. Same with the OEs. The sexed hatchery chicks combs are a good reference to what pullet combs look likeHmm. Well I can't really see much of anything on Ellie and Emma (the ameraucanas) but that's prob cuz they have pea combs? But like we have a pair of orpingtons and while you can see these itty bitty baby combs one of the chicks is quite a bit larger. Same thing with our pair of olive eggers. But on the sexed chicks from the hatchery (2 Wyandottes and a brahma) their combs are barely there if at all yet.
That is a pullet.
Quote: I will. Hopefully when I get a broody! Gotta check with Mary too and see when she's ready.
Quote: Good luck with your massive staggered hatch!
Every single egg you sent is in lockdown. Fantastic, and now I'm wondering where I'm going to put all these birds. (got another 13 in the brooder, but mostly cockerels) I'll figure it out, I seem to manage somehow. Coop will be a wee bit crowded for the summer.
