Hi everyone! Sorry I've been MIA and missed commenting on so many posts. I am happy for the hatches! And thinking good thoughts to people going through rough things, especially health wise. That's so scary. I had/have precancerous cells on my cervix and my doctor wanted to amputate part of it - we want to have more kids and I had amazing pregnancies and water births (and my last baby was over 10lbs! 4 hour birth

) and I really didn't want to mess with preterm labor or possible infertility, so I went to a naturopath and with diet change and some supplements (mostly just green tea!) the cells are less severe and almost gone! It's amazing what diet can do for your body. I wish more people knew. I really struggle with healthy eating, though.

Has anyone ever used local honey to treat their allergies? We just had a man remove honey bees from our wall and are going to get some honey from him. I hope it helps Mark! He's got very bad allergies. Here are a few pictures from yesterday:

Clementine holding a drone. She sat out there all afternoon while the man worked and he told her all about bees. So cool.

He is relocating the bees and uses the honeycomb for candles and sells the honey! He is going to come back and put hives in our back pasture next year.

Yum! We got to eat some.

Our landlord finally came out Saturday and told us we have to move our chicken coop and he changed his mind about us getting goats. Very disappointed. He also told us we have to fill in the little pond the ducks swim in (that was here before we moved in). Can't wait until we can buy a house (which is like 10 years away, thanks student loans

). AND we've found three dog ticks in our bedroom... so, that's terrible.

All the chicks are doing well. Cleaning out the incubator today, don't think I'm up to doing eggtopsies on them. Just going to try and keep the humidity lower next time and see how we do. Really looking forward to our next hatch! Aiming to set April 25th. I need to figure out the best way to clean out our big brooder - it's wooden and has no floor or top. 7 ft long. We have a tarp under it. Any ideas? I did get the Oxine, haven't used it yet.

Well thanks to anyone who read that novel!
Holy Moly that is a big hive. Did the landlord pay to remove it? I find it odd that he wants you to move your coop and decided against the goat and ducks. Did you ask him WHY he changed his mind? And I would tell him to take a leap about filling in a pond that was already there.

Ticks ick me out big time for some reason. Gives me the shivers just thinking about them.

Local unfiltered honey never really helped me very much, but I wasn't very diligent. I think the Pollen idea might be more beneficial, but where do you get local pollen? If you aren't a bee or butterfly that is? I am not going to go around collecting it off the flowers...... heck no.
This thread moves so fast, in so many directions I wanted to reask some questions from a couple of pages back....

For those of you who use leg bands.....where do you order them and what type do you like?

Is my 3 week old lone chick from my last hatch going to be able to be with my hatch that is hatching this weekend? Poor thing is too small to go out with the big girls (which she spends time with in the mornings before I go to work) but would be nice if she had some company with the new ones. She's a Olive Egger from my Blue Copper Marans so has some size to her.

OK, I forgot the other question....but that reminds me, I need to pick up my bio-identicals! Is it hot in here?

Edited because I remembered my other question....can I change my screen name without starting a whole new account? I searched it and found a reference that said a mod could do it for you but it was dated 2010 so that was the old format, does anyone know if I can do it now? I want to change to my farms name High 'N Dry Farm.
I don't use them but saw some in a feed store. Just depends on the feed store I guess. I saw that someone used a marker to mark the males and females.....that seems pretty cost effective if you ask me.... IF they aren't too dark to see the marker of course.

I never got an answer to that either...... My id is fine I guess, although it is inaccurate. I always create these things in a rush and regret it later.

Jason changed his login recently. You can change it once.

Send a PM to Happy Chooks.

I of course will be very confused with the new name but will look for the Big Daddy picture....

Funny when I read I can only change ONCE I had a twinge of panic! ONCE? I can't change my mind again???? HMMMM.....
Quote: Ah, good idea....what about vet wrap? I used it to correct leg issues in chicks....comes in lots of different colors and stays on really well. We have at least 3 colors on hand right now....anyone who owns a horse owns vet wrap! Great idea and no worries about them outgrowing them when I'm not looking.

They're all Marans and from really nice big eggs. The 3 week old is from a pullet Marans egg so was smaller to begin with. I'll give the new ones some time to get their legs under them and once I get a pack of chicks, maybe I can introduce the 3 week old. Would sure be nice to let her know she's a chicken, not a springer spaniel.

I buy organic brown rice at Costco but I repackage it and store it in the freezer so I don't know what brand it is. I'll have to check it out next time I'm at Costco. It is disgusting what manufacturers are allowed to put in our food. There are many other countries where things like dyes are banned. My 2 littlest grandkids are here today and my daughter brought a bag of food for them which included Kraft macaroni & cheese with yellow dyes 5 & 6 and Trix cereal with at least 4 different colors of dye, corn, corn syrup, canola oil and/or rice bran oil (arsenic?), etc. It is scary how desperately the kids want to eat this junk! I need to have a talk with my daughter and ask her not to send this stuff over here.
Seriously! I only buy Cherrios for my daughter. None of that sugar cereal.

Wow I can't believe that huge bee hive was in your wall crazy! Reminds me of that show "Billy the Exterminator" lol. Your landlord sounds like a real peach, not!
