Thanks guys. Yes she totally hatched on her own. She pipped last night and I left her alone and she hatched later this afternoon. Only opened the bator when I saw her tummy was not right after she had fully hatched. She all but exploded from the egg too after zipping. It was crazy. I tried to keep the temp stable- it was doing pretty good until last night it had a spike to 102. Her tummy seems to be getting smaller. That's good right?

I have had this happen a few times. They just pop out before they're ready I think. But anyhow if the cord is still attached I cut it with clean scissors and do nothing else. It always goes away amazingly fast. If bleeding I put a paper towel under the baby. Good luck with the rest of your hatch

Hey guys. So I really need to figure this out tonight. HOW am I going to hang my heat lamp?! The ceiling is extremely tall, it would be a pain to hang it from there(if I can even reach the ceiling). Someone suggested a tripod, but unfortunately I don't have a spare one. I use both of mine in photoshoots, and have multiple photoshoots planned the next few weeks.
For the brooder, I'm using a cardboard box that is approximately 3.5' x 3.5', with white sand in the bottom. The inside of the brooder, from the sand to the chickenwire I have covering the top, is 1.5'.

So, how am I going to hang this heat lamp? Any ideas?! My chicks should be here on the 29th.

Here is the picture. You can also connect the lamp to a small step stool or something. My Brooder that I use this for does not have lid, so I put the pole into the brooder. It has to be high because it is a 250 watt red bulb and it gets very toasty. I do like the ecoglows but the 5 week old RIR are already too big for a 20.... They are huge!

To those that asked, here is my setup. I need to be able to access the cabinets to the left of it, so I can't put anything large there. (yes, my bed sheets were in the washer! That's why i have a bare mattress, lol!)

I'm using a 250 watt red bulb & you can see the heat lamp in front of the brooder

If you can not figure anything out you can put a 2x4 over the top. get something from the discount cut or warped bin at home depot. You can get a smaller clamp on style light and get a 75 watt full spectrum plant light. about 20.00 for the combo. This is what I use for the new ones in the house before they go out to the big brooder.

Let me go look.........................it's crazy hot in that room, I hate going in there. LOL There are currently 7 tubs of chicks/quail brooding in there, each with a heat lamp.

Oops, eight brooders, I forgot about the geese.

You currently have 3 OE pipped and one OE chick out, it's dark...........not completely fluffed out yet. Nothing yet on the Emps, but the hatch is due tomorrow. And your dark layers seem to run late.
