My garden is really taking off. I have squash, cucumber, pumpkin, eggplant, garlic, peppers, green beans, peas, corn, lettuce, and tons of different tomatoes. I've even been able to keep out the chickens. -win!!

Beautiful!!! We have our garden fenced off in two areas. DH forgot to close the gate to the tomato area after watering and by the time I found it, the chooks had demolished a whole row of tomatoes.

I need to replant them today. At least I still have seedlings left to replace them!

I had a few "plant sacrifices", before we got it right. Yeah for the seedlings. Half of my tomato plants are volunteers from my plants last year.

Nice! I got mine in late, but I have squash on, tomatoes and peppers blooming. I had to replant my cucumbers courtesy of the sowbugs that chomped them to death. I've got to go pick my lettuce today, it's ready.
I'm having issues with aphids. I hate those guys!! I'm going to the store today to get lady bugs, and praying mantis eggs. Those poor bugs don't last very long around the chickens though,,,

I have not had any trouble with aphids since putting DE under my bedding in the coop. The coop bedding then gets composted and added to the boxes.

I did get a handful of blueberries a couple of days ago - that was nice! I got them before the birds did!

Beautiful lush garden! My garden became the turkey pen this year. So I have 12 huge, noisy birds trampling everything down. They're just fertilizing for next year, right?

A friend has a huge garden (no chickens, LOL). He saved one whole raised bed for me and planted anything I wanted. So I'm having to depend on the kindness of others

I have to leave in 30 minutes for baked goods judging today, got all my entries in last night. 49 of them!!! I only scratched two entries, cream puffs & coffeecake. Around 5:15 I totally ran out of oompf and called it good. Loaded up the car and headed for the fairgrounds. After we dropped off my entries, we went to the local brewery had a hamburger and a beer. It was nice just sitting and being waited on after all the baking and quick dinners for the last two weeks.

Beautiful!! When did you plant? My daughter planted early and hers is like yours. We planted the week of Mother's Day but I've been using my special fertilizer so they're going crazy!!! I think it's going to be a good year!

Yay! Thats a lot of work! Good luck!

I have a question (and it may sound silly) how do you keep things fresh when baking for fairs? I have always wanted to enter something, but can never figure out how to enter the freshest entry possible.

I am so jealous! We have lived in this house for 4 years, and it was a drug house prior to us living here. I keep trying to grow veggies, and its like the soil is tainted......they always get horrible mold, or some strange bugs, or just randomly shrivel up and die. I have never had this tough of a time growing veggies. It is super frustrating. The plants that do make it end up with very little yield.
