California - Northern

Thank you debs-flock for understanding my poorly worded question.
What makes all this a little easier is that 99% of the birds are from Ideal. I'll have to see what happens with the BBR cubalayas and the Japaneese bantams they listed. I'm wondering about the silver phoenix listed on the sheet also. I'm learning but there are so many breeds I've never seen.
They are exploring moving the horse competitions up to Douglas County due to smoke, our fair is so late in the summer the kids only get a few days to get ready for state fair in horse. We get 2 weeks for poultry.

I understood but did not know--I was making a bad attempt at humor....

Ron - the australorps a look really good! I'll be curious to hear how well they lay for you.

my lovely Daisy (in my avatar picture at the moment) is an australorp, and she's probably my most consistent layer, nice smooth, fairly dark (although not as dark as marans) brown egg, almost every single day. she's a champ.

and Ron, yours look AMAZING -- those blues!

I still have three from Cackle Hatchery--The are going on thee years old and still lay nice eggs. They are very quiet Hens that do not get into trouble. I will let you know how they lay. I am counting on them laying through the winter too.

The cubalayas & phoenix are both also AOSB & the Japanese are SCCL. You probably already knew those, but just in case

I figured you would get it, and it did make me giggle. But here anyone that get back with the wild things doesn't come back. Our doe lost one of her fawns this year, she's down to one now, probably coyotes.

I let the Spanish Babies free range in the back yard tonight.

The Cockerel would not let me take a picture and went back into the pen. He has an amazing comb so far! They are about 12 weeks old.

This is a coranation or Kings comb. Look for the little crown at the back of the comb:

I have three Partridge Penedesenca Pullets too.

This one is a darker red than the other two:

They are all supposed to be bantams. Up here the kids are choosing from clean or feathered bantams coming from Ideal. It is common for them to hope for the more unusual breeds. Even with the standard in hand last year I couldn't convince one that she had a buff brahma - not a buff columbian cochin. She has done poultry before and knows the difference between comb types, took the judge to convince her.
