I think that this thread has fantastic variety of really nice birds available to see and to purchase...maybe the best state/region thread on BYC. And yes we do have Deb and Deann and PapaBrooder so that gives us an edge but the rest of us have interesting and varied taste (no pun inteded) in poultry so we pretty much have access to whatever.

Speaking of getting what you want...Ron, I covet a blue Australorp. If you hatch more in the spring I would love to buy a pullet from you. Of course you wouldn't sell a singleton so naturally I would bring home two

Do you guys keep bantams with LF? I never had any interest in Bantams until I was considering who to pal Curly with then I got the bug and now I want a couple of Nankins and Frizzled Cochins and Mottled D'Uccles.. Don't really want to tie up a whole coop run with them so wondering if they could hang with the big kids.
I am currently working with the Egg Farmer(Jeremy) in Winters to hatch UofA Blues. I have two blue pullets and two splash pullets with a Blue Cockerel. I will have access to hatching eggs from them between sets. The Black and Blue Australorp hatch will likely be the first project in January. I am trying to get Jeremy to set up a second breeding pen so that we can hatch two breeds at a time.

I hope to get some Splash Australorps out of them too.

I don't really see the draw for black meat/bones/skin either, I think I would have to soup them too... if I ever find one I can dislike enough to eat.

Thanks for the info on the skunk, I don't think I need to ask you how you came by this information - I have a feeling I know..

well, my hair is bright shiny and smell free now!

Is 5-7 days long enough to keep the turner off on shipped eggs?

Yeah. Don't wait longer then 5 IMO. If it is going to attach it will by then
S
The only study on egg turning said the middle 7 days were the ones that made the difference in hatching.

I turn the turner on after 3 days.

Happy hatching!
