I still do not have any Grand Children but I do have a Daughter that is a Freshman in High School. It is odd having children that are the age that Grand Children would be.

You have another, younger than that, don't you? Seems like you have a house full of daughters and are such a sweet dad with them.

All of a sudden I am feeling old. I have 49 and 50 year old sons and a 21 year old grandson.

My youngest is just 3 years older than my oldest grandchild. It is strange to be Grandma and Mom at the same time. ... I greatly admire those grandparents who, due to circumstances, take over raising their grandkids full time.

All I ever wanted to do, when I was young, was have a big family with lots of kids. I even worked with young children. Now that I'm an empty nester, I enjoy not having kids all the time. I love my grandchildren but appreciate that I don't have to parent them.

Agreed ! My grandson and son are 2 1/2 yrs apart. Looking forward to them growing up together wrangling chickens out back for me;-)
I have home schooled all five of mine and it looks like the grandbaby will be as well. We shall see as it's hard in the pocketbook and I'll hold no judgment against them either way.

This whole way of life can be hard on the pocket if not careful;-) a bear paid a visit to my car ,the neighbors car and my husbands truck. Passed through the chix yard but didn't even touch the grain! Muse be a garbage bear:-( I just kept thinking " not my new flock please" when I went out to check the damage. The stinking dog didn't even bark! Stealth bear?

I am happy that the chickens are ok!

My Mom was born two years after you in 1940.

I was born in 1960. Those of us born then are Viet Nam war babies as well as the end of the Baby Boomers.

Pretty close, born a year later, no grandkids since DD is a junior in HS this year.

There are acts of God and nature clauses ... Lol no damage though. Even on the paint! Makes a person concerned on how long they lurk in the woods watching people get in and out of the cars to NOT even scratch the paint opening the door!!!!!

I don't know, they keep raising the age of a "senior" discount. I will be 55 in a couple days and I feel ripped off! I think they all start at 60 or 65 now, so have to wait again.

I would rather be ripped off than old.......

As an 89 year young friend likes to tell me, age is mind over matter.

If you don't mind, it doesn't matter.

Nobody can guess how old she is - ever. She has to tell them. And they still don't believe her.

Thank you to everyone who advised me to go ahead and put the crate in the pen and use it as a coop. It's a pet taxi so it is vented plastic. I will stick it in there today after work and add Buckbeak on Friday to see how it all goes.

I started some golden cuckoo Marans pullet eggs this morning for a test hatch. If anyone is interested in chicks let me know. They can be color sexed at hatch.
