This is super great!!! I would want chicks if my girls cooperate. I am going to try to scheme a way to do it regardless but am glad everyone else
can get what they want. If it works out Ron, Please put me down for 6 Mottled Java chicks. If it doesn't work out there are lots of others to make it 25 or more

Here is my scheme for what it is worth...Hen goes broody I come here and contact my local peeps to put together an order call Uruch and get an ETA on Java babies as well as what others want and then either have her wait until they arrive if it can happen w/i a week of If I can get them w/i a month I go for it and give the broodies eggs of questionable fertility from my own girls so she has something to sit on then give them chicks when they get here. Sound good??

I got a pip in the shell!! Mama hen was clucking a lot so i lifted her to see what's going on and a pip in the shell. Heard some peeping going on

@chiqita - I think i can get the babies from you and just add them in a few days. I figured these would start hatching tomorrow, I set them on Halloween. So your Bresse should be soon too
My hubby is out making sure her coop is all ready for the babies!!

I got a pip in the shell!! Mama hen was clucking a lot so i lifted her to see what's going on and a pip in the shell. Heard some peeping going on

. I'm hoping this is a great sign and she'll be a great mama. One dark marans egg and a lavender ameracauan/marans cross set.

Thank you Not my first but the last time I had a broody it was about 8 years ago. A marans hen: her second year being a mama was horrible. She hatched them and then I started finding them dead. She would cluck and call them for food, then turn and start trying to kill them. It was weird, her first year she was an amazing mom! After that I just raised them myself: hatchery birds I kept forever. So I'm a little nervous here. Going to add some Bresse from chiqita in a couple of days. I couldn't get up to her to get eggs, so she's got a hatch timed with these 2 eggs. I'm going to get those from her and slip them under this hen too.
