I have some black Penedesenca laying so I may through those in there.

Ron did you ever get pictures of your black hen by chance?
Hopefully your Partridge start laying soon.

The PPs are laying. I need to do a fertility check and get them separated. I need to at least move out the Wheaten girl.

Oddly the RIR seem to like him better but I did see one of the squat for him.

It is too dark in the evenings to get pictures of the Black Penedesenca Pullet. I will get some on the Weekend.

I
I heard that the PVC pipe do it your self feeders were cheap to make but the pipes around here expensive! Plus I need 12! What does everybody use for their pens? I am so tired of pots and pans I have been using there is just feed all over the yards wasted!
made those PVC feeders (two of them) for my run. I used a 4' PC of 4" straight pipe with a cap on top (to keep the birds from perching on it and keep rain out of feed) at the bottom I used a "y" and glued it on the straight pipe so one angle of y sits flat on the ground then glued a test plug into bottom. For a rain shield I used a 5gal bucket LID and cut it so it fit snug and pushed it onto the straight pipe. (Stopped about 6"above the "y" and glued it in place). Hung it up with rubber bungi cords around it and secured it in place. To fill it I just remove the cap on top and pour feed in. It hold about 3 (1) gallon buckets of feed. I have 19 birds and it takes them 4 days to empty it. If you have a Habitat for Humanity "Re-Store" near you, you can purchase the Pipe for 5-8$ a PC. Or hit up a local plumber see if he'd b willing t purchase it for you at wholesale???

Great tips!

**** most of u livr in the bay area and what i count as so cal xD
im way up in the mtns almost at the border of nevada (two hours driving wise to reno)

what Kind of fencing do you have? I find the knotted no climb can do that also cut chicken wire can too

I do have cut chicken wire. They just as of the last few weeks started getting the spots. We've had everything the same (fencing and coop) for 2 years...

I'm going to try and catch a few and get a couple pics of them and share the photos. I just want to verify it's not mites and I need to send in a sample to UD Davis to make sure they don't have parasites.

Once I rule those two things out then I think it would have to be wounds. They free range too so it can be sharp bushes or a number of things.
