Thinking through what I want to experiment with this spring also . Really love purchasing from deb, Chiquita and Juststruttin ! Wonderful people. Ccl vs maraduna basque vs crele pendesencas = hmmm
Because you think you will be able to just use it once?!!! Hahaha you've forgotten all hatching addiction factors;-)
Are you breeding pure crele or just using them in crosses ?
I have 2 runs of them the crosses are for fun. I am a huge fan and supporter of the penedesenca

Ho
OK flock, it is time to have a little chat.
Ducks, the silkie coop is not your underground mansion that has been taken over by angora monsters. They live there you do not. Stop hiding in there and making me look for you for hours. Also the new/shavings are a new color, this is true. They are not however evil nor will they kill you. Hissing and charging them will not scare them away, and you will like to sleep on clean bedding. You can't dig it all out and move it to outside your pen and don't try!

Roosters, once you learn to crow do not decide in a moment of clarity you are going to take over the world. All othercock birds will kick your butt. That silkie may look small and fluffy but he rules with an iron claw and he will kick your butt. Also moving to the coop under my window is not the way to learn to crow.

Guinea dear you are not a chicken. Stop trying to fertilize my marans eggs (speaking of it anyone have an extra female guinea?) Marans you have nest boxes, use them!!!

Silkies the ground will not harm you if you walk on it. Go poo there. Also if you do not lay eggs you have nothing to sit on . try it many chicken feel this is a great and fufiling life and take pride in eggs!you could join them.

Nutmeg, the nest box I made you is very nice. There is no need to sneak out and lay in the compost bin.

This community service announcement brought to you by people who feed you. You like that remember?
way funny. My hen Cinnamon started laying in the compost been . Hahaha :D

Stay away from that thread. The Thread starter has an agenda. Not a nice or reasonable person. There are only 7 posts and already several have been offended.

Jason, When you decide on a rooster get him tested for the blue gene. Its only like 15 bucks and soo worth it for your project. I find the info on pea combs to be sketchy. Id rather KNOW he carried the blue gene.
Also, while Im asking you questions, I need to ask you a gardening favor. Ca you do a estimate for insurance purposes without coming to the house if I provide info and vidoes of the house /hill? I cant find anyone to come and do it, and the insurance people say I need to get it on my own. Its becoming a big pain!
The subject of testing for the blue egg laying gene came up a week ago.
1. Is there a line to a website of Facebook page to learn more?
2. What does it determine? Single or double gene?

I was talking to mario about my blue silkie egg laying project and he just looked at me and said
"Isn't that like having a hybred sportscar? What does it matter how good the gas milage is if it's sits in the garage all the time?"

He is not impressed with the production of the silkies.....

I can pm you her Facebook name but the best way to get a hold of her is silicon valley chickens. At this time the test if for the presence of the blue gene not how many copies. So it's not great for the oe projects except for to pick oe roosters.
