We have been looking into importing eggs from Spain but they may not be exporting still. The Dr. I know there mentioned the option of importing Semen as opposed to eggs to help bring fresh blood in.
hopefully we can make something work

Maybe some questions are better off asked in PM's rather than the open forum. Of course look at all the fun you've given everyone; at your expense of course.

I think it's a fascinating idea. Since I have limited coops, I can not keep all the roosters I would like. But would like to have the option of breeding certain hens to another breed I don't keep.

well I don't have to harvest at least.
with restrictions on exportations on Spain one way around it sounds to be shipping the goods and giving it to our hens.
so they would have to be isolated awhile for sure
That's awesome Jason. Seems like a great way to get new genetic material into the US.

I say go for it! Heck, why not? When you get the sperm in the mail, all you have to do it hold the hen up-side-down and use an eye dropper type gadget and drop it on her vent, then she sucks it in. Very interesting, their instincts lol. OK too much information. But the factories do this all the time and especially turkey farms. I want some of these birds eventually! As soon as I can talk my husband into another chicken house

How fast could they get it to you? I guess you can always try. But from Spain I can't see it getting quick enough. I believe fresh chilled on dogs stays viable for 1-3 days. Hope it works out for you. What a great idea to get new bloodlines.

If we can do this there is a business there. I can think of a lot of people who could use European or Australian sperm.

Speaking of it did you know Australians only have lf silkies?
