OK, thinking about getting a bigger incubator. Any opinions? I want digital temp and humidity reader lol. I have a Genesis Hovabator 1588 and love it, but it's too small.....

Dickey, GQF Sportsman and Brinsea cabinet incubators.

Dickeys are a bit less expensive.

Oh Boy, here we go. Its a slippery slope from here.

I have a Dickey and love it. Mr. Dickey is really nice and answers the phone personally. My incubator is not digital, but I think they now come in digital. It took me a couple of weeks to decide between the Dickey and Sportsman and I went with Dickey because I like the idea of supporting the little guy plus I think they are about $100 cheaper.

The Dickey comes with a hatching tray but I prefer to hatch in my Genesis so I keep the Dickey clean.

thank you, I looked at the dickeys and really like them. I dont know where I would put it though. Can it go outside in a garage/shed thats not heated?

oh my I have a feeling I'm going to get into some trouble being able to incubate that many eggs at one time, I better think this out haha!

For staggered hatching in the same incubator you do this to minimize the time without turning and extra humidity.

You can also candle to see if they have internally pipped. They usually internally pip on day 19 to 20. It really does not hurt them usually to wait until you see the first pip to raise humidity. It actually helps for Dark eggs that have small air cells--Marans and Penedesencas.

aha, i didn't catch that it was referring to staggered hatching -- i'm just doing one full load at a time.

That I don't know

Perhaps if you cover it with insulation. I use reflective double insulation on my brooders in the barn and the temp steady. It may work for covering an incubator.

Im debating getting a dicky. My humidair is sooooo huge. I can't even get it through a single door need a double. It's like 6 feet tall and I can sit inside it. We made it digital and upgraded the wafer but it still Needs the door resealed. I could fit a dicky downstairs.

It seems the dicky has an edge in shipped eggs because wood vibrates less then metal. If I don't get a whole one I may ask Mr dicky if I can get an automatic humidifie from him I bet it would work in the humidair.

Anactdotall evidence says dicky have better hatch rates then other cabinets

There is one on craigslist Georgia or some such for 600 and they said there's was 700 or 8? You'd have to check search tempest
