That's good. She may have gotten booted by the other hen. That is why I try to separate my broody. I only have 3 nest boxes and 10 girl so the nests are in high demand normally. I also have 2 broodies right now so they are both in the broody coop.
Actually it is funny. She gets up to eat drink and poo and one of her coop mates sits on the eggs long enough to lay her own then she gets up and give it back to mama. They are on day 20. I have a baby gate I may use to separate her when the chicks start to hatch.

You're so sweet. Love that picture. What a good boy!!!! Love your coop too.

He really is a good guy. Tom built the pen and I got the coop from CA Coops out of Santa Rosa...maybe Windsor. The coop is on legs is 3X5 and sits in the pen which is built around a scrub oak. It is nice and shady. Most of my 2013 girls live there with The General.

Murray McMurray says to not give it to chickens over age 16 weeks. Any idea why?
My guess is that it's not safe for birds laying eggs. Rather, the eggs would have to be withheld. Many of their pullets start at 18 weeks. Any other thoughts?

Looks like a good day today, eggs pipping, chicks feeling better, broodies doing their broody thing.

Robert Jordan, are your phoenix lf or bantam? My DD has me on a search for them, I'm trying to find them on the west coast to avoid the weather.
