I don't see any on the Brinsea web site either. It sure seems like they would be easier to keep in position with the foam..

Brinsea is a weird website. They came with the Octagon 40 Advance EX. If you call them or send an email they may be able to help you get them.

I sent an email. Hopefully they will reply soon.

don't know if this helps, but in my Rcom the eggs start out laying on their sides, so the automatic turner can work -- but this past hatch i moved them to egg cartons for the last three days, after the turner is off anyway -- definitely seemed to work better than my previous two hatches. they are on their sides underneath a broody mama, after all -- so perhaps that will work for your hatch?

I have done that for my last couple of hatches too and also liked the result, but I am looking for something to hold them more firmly in the Brinsea before lockdown. I'm going to move them back to the Farm Innovators for hatch and will put them in an egg carton for that.

chickee do you have BBS Ameraucana?

Congrats! The cooling feature as I understand it is to mimic the mama hen getting up and taking her daily stroll. That is all I know. I covet your Brinsea.
No, I only have wheaten, blue wheaten, splash wheaten Ameraucanas. I think Papa Brooder has them.

i realize chances are slim, but anyone on this list interested in a duckwing marans cockerel? he's big and handsome and incredibly easy-going and mellow -- he's 3.5 months old, and i adore him, but don't have space for a fourth rooster in my little set-up here. here's a few photos taken a couple of weeks ago:

i think he will grow up to be a great flock protector, and no aggression toward people -- if anyone's interested, let me know! i can always take him to the local feedstore, but he's a bit special somehow... would love for him to go to someone who'll appreciate him.

(duckwing marans are apparently VERY rare, although not sure how "established" the coloring is?)

Went home to check my chick and it is spraddled. Like ballerina stretching on the floor spraddled. Poly Vi Solw/o iron and a brace? should I bring it to work with me and put it in a cup? Don't tell me to whip out the pruning shears. I swore I wouldn't assist a hatch and then take life saving measures. I didn't say I wouldn't try to correct spraddle

No pips in the other egg.
For the spraddled chick, take some medical tape (like you would use to tape a guaze pad to someone) and tape the legs together in the proper position. I've had good luck fixing spraddle legs if fixed in the first couple of days. Leave the hobble on for 2-3 days and then check the chick. It usually falls off on it's own by 3 days, so I don't normally have to remove it. Temperature issues and stuck chicks can have leg issues. My last one was a chick that was stuck in the egg - it had zipped but couldn't turn to get all the way out. Be very careful with hobbled chicks, they can drown in the waterer more easily. Most run around just fine though.

Here's more info, if you need it:

The only leg issue I have not been able to fix, and will cull for, is a slipped hock tendon. I've tried to fix them, and I always end up putting the chick down.

Definitley no foam inserts and they are not listed on the list of what is in the box.. I might need to order some for the next hatch.
Put them in an egg carton in the Brinsea and manually turn the Brinsea to turn them. If you have the turner, you can let that turn them, but I'd watch it at first as it tips quite a lot.

Mine came with foam inserts and metal rails as well. I can still hatch in cartons in the Brinsea, though I do have to be a bit more creative to avoid the center rail on the lid.

Mine has the auto turner but I didn't think about putting them in there in an egg carton. Great idea! I was surprised how much further it turns them then the autro turner for the foam incubator. I will try the egg carton if I have room. I'm not sure how many eggs I will have after I remove the clear ones this evening.

LOL!!!! I have been making myself refrain from candling too much. I have only done so twice since I set them. I know the hens get off the eggs daily so it makes since that regular cooling would be good, but I have had so many people tell me not too. It seems to be very stable in temperature already, but I want get the humidity down a bit. It is at 43% but I have Marans eggs in there and had better luck with a drier hatch with those. I'm thinking around 30% until lockdown.
This last hatch of golden cuckoo Marans, I kept the humidity at 44% and had 100% hatch in my Octagon 20.
