i realize chances are slim, but anyone on this list interested in a duckwing marans cockerel? he's big and handsome and incredibly easy-going and mellow -- he's 3.5 months old, and i adore him, but don't have space for a fourth rooster in my little set-up here. here's a few photos taken a couple of weeks ago: i think he will grow up to be a great flock protector, and no aggression toward people -- if anyone's interested, let me know! i can always take him to the local feedstore, but he's a bit special somehow... would love for him to go to someone who'll appreciate him. (duckwing marans are apparently VERY rare, although not sure how "established" the coloring is?)

I have had people from your area looking for dark egg gene boys in the past. Do you have a picture of how dark his egg clutch was? I remember it was impressive. I bet he can find a home on cl thats a real home.

ok I have my easter eggers (blue eggs) in with my layers and also with the blue egg gene rooster and I was just wondering if the regular brown layers (black sex links) would come out to be easter eggers if i hatched them,

They will be light green about 1/2 as brown as parent boy egg.

Some countries only have lf silkies.. go figure!

How do you make Easter eggers?

tons of options. One fun way is to take your favorite white layer ad mix with a ameraucana
mix a legbar with a ameraucana
easter egger x legbar or ameraucana
lite brown egg layer over a blue egg layer

Our OEGB's think they are people and are great little mom's. We've got silver laced Wyandotte's that try and avoid being picked up but accept it. The buff Brahma is calm also. DD used the dutch bantam for showmanship this year. Our most high strung is the ORP bantam but we didn't raise her from a chick.

One of my brahma girls gets the most attention from the rooster and I saw today she's got a pretty bad wound on one side I don't know what I'm going to do. I didn't see it looks like its a few days old. The rain has kept me from looking over them too much. Today I went out to observe. Her wing covers part if it. It's starting to heal so I don't know if I should clean it?

Maybe put some bluKote on it. Do you think more attention from the roo might re-open it? Would a hen saddle cover it? :/
