The trick with brooding waterfowl is to get them on wire as soon as possible. That way when they start playing in the water (use narrow lip waterers) all of that drops down into the catch pan which I fill with shavings to absorb the water. I have raised so many waterfowl I forgot they were messy......

I hope they hatch!

PetRock, I definitely understand that. My husband works out of town most of the time too. Right now he's in San Bernardino. You should move down to SC… not a bad place to live at all! ;)
We go back and forth about it. Housing is so much more expensive there and do we want to at our age start all over again with a 30 year mortgage. What part of SC do you live in?

Cacklejoy im up between susanville amd chester (look on google maps) also no more chicks have died

and for people with experience in hatching eggs is there a pount of "over filling a bator?" i have my 3 that will hatch the 6th and i put a crested polish egg in earlier and it wont hatch till the 21 (actually did it as a birthday present for my bf, he likes chickens lol) so my question is will the other three be fine with that egg in there and two will that egg be okay when the others start to hatch?
I don't do staggered hatches because I use my incubator to hatch in. Only have 1 incubator so I kind of have to do it this way. Perhaps someone else can answer this question.

Multi quote is missing on my phone:-( but It must be because I'm brooding in my living room this year (mercy!) rather than the garage .

I have five heated brooder available for set up and five more for grow outs but f I use them all in the living room I may be asking for it.
Looks like the flex will shortly be kicked out of her parking spot;-)

The multi should be the only thing on your phone. The "light up on the bottom for every one you use. If thats not working you might have a loading problem byc does that to me frequently I have to go back a page and start again.

Have you guys thought about los gatos hills or boulder creek? Its beautiful and great schools. The problems in that area when we were looking waslack of houses.

Let's see if I've got this right........Thanks Ron.

That's it Debi. Exactly what I want and eclectic layer pen & purebred breeding pens.
That's what we are doing. I call the one group of girls (and a couple guys for good measure) "The breakfast makers." It's fun! Right now I'm gathering the EE eggs. The girls have 2 boy options, a Brabanter and a BW AM. Aught to be fun to see what hatches :)
