California - Northern

I get the rowdy ones out as soon as possible.

They can hurt ones that just hatched.
We discovered that the hard way. I was afraid to open the bator at first but decided MR. Rowdy (has to be cockerels, you just know it) must go. Now I know better.

Guess I'm being paranoid, 'cause the last time I lost a duckling the UD Davis necropsy report showed that it died from a yolk sac infection (e. Coli), but it *also* had visceral gout due to severe dehydration even though it was only four days old!

I ordered a new incubator. I prefer broody hen but out of all my Lemon Orps they are not cooperating. this one had a digital thermostat so I can better control the temps. I hope things improve. Plus my man agreed to breeding pens. I am stoked he is getting serious about this. Rare birds deserve it XD I will be pedigree tracking much easier wohoo! But I have a susicion he won;t have time to do it so I will have to play carpenter again. He leave in a few weeks *sigh*

Hi all, I'm up in Lake County and in search of hatching eggs. I am helping a teacher friend hatch in her classroom at Easter, by providing the eggs and taking the chicks a few days later.
I was hoping to find an interesting variety of birds (but not mixes) for the kids to see. Large fowl and bantam would be great. She has two incubators, we can hatch 17...
What would be really great is if someone who is planning to hatch around the same time would let us do the job for them and take the hatch back??? I would love to keep pullets but
I am worried about the little roos we will end up with. I have two and cannot have any more...

I will pick up, deliver, and pay....

Thanks so much!

I sent you a PM I can't take them all back but can take some. I can select eggs to increase the odds that you will get sex links so at least you will be able to tell with some. In any case I can provide a variety of egg colors from healthy hens. I have 2 roos to 16 girls.

It is great to hear from you!

I really like the eco glow type brooder heaters.
I will have to get use to the Eco Glows. I have always used incandescent light bulbs of different wattage to control brooder heat. I am used to the light so put a new type light bulb in there. I haven't been hatching since I bought my 4 Eco Glows so my husband used one in an outside small dog house for our elderly very small Pomeranian dog who has since passed away. I have all 4 brooders set up with an Eco Glow, food tray & water trough waiting for my first hatch in a long time.

Thanks, Ron! I think the pullet in the pic is the lightest one!

I have seven pullets and five of them are pretty good size. I am just working with the seven pullets that I have this year and I'll cull heavy from their offspring. I did hear back from Megan so contact her if you want eggs.
Megan????? Megan who? Are we talking the Pinta Pitas? Do I need to contact her & beg for eggs to hatch?.....LOL

That's what we are doing. I call the one group of girls (and a couple guys for good measure) "The breakfast makers." It's fun! Right now I'm gathering the EE eggs. The girls have 2 boy options, a Brabanter and a BW AM. Aught to be fun to see what hatches :)
Good for you Rebecca.........My daughter calls me a chicken snob because I keep all my breeders in separate pens & only do the one cross for the OEs. Maybe I am missing something huh??? LOL

Cuteness alert

Without iron is the one I have. Also have Nutri Drench and a couple Rooster Booster products, Poultry Cell and Liquid B12.
