Cuteness alert
Omg that has to be a prodigy of no 1 duck!! His spot is exactly the same at birth. Go no1!
One of my ducklings is looking pretty weak and hasn't even open it's eyes.:hit It's a long shot, but since one of the dead in shell ones had a yolk sac infection I decided to give this one a very small drop of Baytril and I will also hand feed or tube Pedialyte to it. -Kathy
Good job on the hatch. I would give him the drugs too since you know. Vitamins can really help even more with ducks. I think I am going to offer more brewers yeast after this hatch to the parents.
Without iron is the one I have. Also have Nutri Drench and a couple Rooster Booster products, Poultry Cell and Liquid B12. Is b 12 niacian? -Kathy -Kathy
I get mostly roos too. But we just eat them if I can't sell them.
Yep. First happy life second seconds.

Guess I'm being paranoid, 'cause the last time I lost a duckling the UD Davis necropsy report showed that it died from a yolk sac infection (e. Coli), but it *also* had visceral gout due to severe dehydration even though it was only four days old!

-Kathy
Wouldn't the ecoli cause dehydration? Probably a case of cause and effect that even your best care could not change.

This is a pic for @capayvalleychick Looking forward to enjoying some Dexter Beef!

And here is The General. I love this rooster. I rescued him from 4 years of bachelorhood and I am sure that he is totally flawed in terms of SOP. When he dies I will replace him with a higher quality boy but he is a super flock master and I love his color. He is properly deferential to the humans and purrs with his girls he is so happy to have found himself in the company of hens!

sorry for the poop in the pic. Couldn't crop it out
