Maybe someone could tell fowlman how to attach the photo sale ads in his signature? I don't know how to do it, but I've noticed some people have chickens for sale listed on the bottom of each of their posts.

@ronott1 thanks for letting me know about the chicks. Go Dorks! I will be in Oroville all day but back tonight. Have to go ... can't catch up on posts right now. Have a wonderful Saturday, everyone!

It doesn't take long to get (WAY) behind on this thread.

I picked up the little Marans Chicks on Thursday. Do they look like Cuckoo Marans? None of them had any head spots.

I have a question about one of my Silkie Chicks. I know @chiqita had a mico-Silkie a while back. How can you tell the difference between "just small", and failure to thrive? The little black one in the front is tiny. She is the loudest of all the chicks, and doesn't seem to have and issues. Is she just small?

Is there a sales page on BYC for norcal people? I'm thinking of selling some New Hamps.

Walt
No but I often wish there was a search feature so we could look for local ads. You may try putting "Nor. Cal" in the title of your ad to attract local buyers.

The chick on the left looks a bit like a cuckoo marans chick. the one on the right, no.

Both of them should be a bit brownish.

Some Blue Marans are made from cuckoo.

Do they have feathers on their feet?

if you are driving for hours in the dark without any sounds it's pretty awesome when they go off. They have that staccato quack. They were used as live decoys. They were bred for their voice.
I should get a couple of Calls for when I have to drive at night. A couple of years ago I drove the kids to Burney Falls to go camping. Everyone in the car fell asleep and I soon found myself getting drowsy too. At one point, I got so sleepy I had to open the windows and stick my head out. I later pulled into a gas station and loaded up on coffee and chocolate. Who knew I really only needed a duck.

Great idea!!

Here is what you do:

1) Create an ad on the Buy/sell section
2) Go to your Profile page and scroll to the bottom and "Edit Signature"
In the signature section you can link to your ads or photo albums.

By doing this, links to your ad and albums (3) will show up on the bottom of your posts.

Good luck.

Reading this was a great way to start my morning.

It's Spring!

I have 5 Delawares out and two SG Dorkings. The UofA blues did nothing and had no pips this morning when I got up. I just checked, a couple hours later and one hatched and I see 7 or so pips!

The first one to hatch is Black.

What cuties! I have a few smaller chicks that hatched from pullet eggs. They seem to be doing fine and will probably catch up with their hatchmates eventually. One has earned the name Scrappy! I am more discriminating now with which eggs I set to hatch. I was just so excited to test Zorro's fertility that I set almost every egg. None of the smaller eggs have had a problem hatching and the chicks are strong, just smaller than the other ones.

I should have chicks hatched out when I get home! This time there are more Dorking then Delawares in the incubator set for hatching. I can't wait to see them!

More babies!

Hello Hello Hello!

How is everyone doing? Long time no chat. I took a break for a little while as I was inundated with life. Now I am over 3000 posts behind. I don't think I can catch up with that. BUT I will do a few pages this weekend.

Just wanted to say, "hi" and I noticed that people were talking about chickens! Go figure!

Anyway I will post more later. I am, believe it or not, still struggling with my one chicken that had vent gleet. She got better and then 6 days after I put her back out with the flock it was back like it was never gone. I have tried everything (for a month now mind you) and I think it is time......:( I can't do it but maybe I can convince my ex father in law to help me.......UGH!

I am also going to downsize. I have noticed that I am giving away all my eggs to friends and co-workers and spending a pile on food, shavings and everything else. Not so smart on my part, so I think I am going to try going down to 6 chickens.

Anyone looking for some big beautiful Black Orps from Just Struttin? I think I am going to rehome one of the Millie Fleur Leghorns and maybe my Orange Polish...... sigh.... that only gets me down to 8 though, oh and the splash DLBB.

If anyone is looking for some lovely 11 months old girls that are laying well, let me know.

I will catch up with everyone this weekend! I have to run get my daughter now. Can't wait to see Ron's babies and what has been going on here...... I feel like I lost touch with my friends.

I don't mean to talk you out of downsizing, but sell the eggs to your co-workers. Also, keep in mind that they will slow down in fall and not lay as much as they are right now.

Quote: That is how I got most of my egg customers. Once they taste REAL eggs, they don't want the supermarket eggs any more!
